Disparos en plena I-240 tras aparente incidente de furia al volante en Memphis

(LPL) – Un aparente caso de furia al volante en la interestatal I-240 terminó con disparos entre conductores la noche del martes en Memphis, según informó el Departamento de Policía de Memphis.

El incidente ocurrió alrededor de las 7:00 p.m., cerca de la salida de Jackson Avenue, cuando un conductor que viajaba hacia el norte reportó que otro vehículo, una GMC Envoy, se incorporó de manera agresiva hacia su carril.

De acuerdo con el reporte, el conductor afectado tocó la bocina, lo que provocó una reacción hostil del otro automovilista, quien respondió con una seña obscena, redujo la velocidad y se colocó detrás del vehículo.

La situación escaló cuando, presuntamente, el conductor de la GMC comenzó a disparar mientras ambos vehículos seguían en movimiento sobre la autopista.

Un video obtenido por los medios locales posteriormente muestra a un SUV verde aparentemente accidentado a un costado de la vía. En las imágenes, un hombre con camisa verde desciende de otro vehículo y parece continuar disparando hacia el SUV antes de regresar rápidamente al automóvil junto a un pasajero.

Según el informe policial, uno de los conductores habría cerrado el paso al otro, lo que desató el enfrentamiento. La víctima declaró que el agresor también golpeó su vehículo lateralmente antes de que ambos se detuvieran.

Tras el choque, el sospechoso bajó de su vehículo y continuó disparando a través de la interestatal.

A pesar de la gravedad del incidente, no se reportaron personas heridas. Las autoridades indicaron que la investigación continúa y que se recuperó un teléfono celular en la escena, lo que podría ser clave para el caso.English:

(LPL) – An apparent road rage incident on Interstate 240 ended with gunfire between drivers Tuesday evening in Memphis, according to the Memphis Police Department.

The incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. near the Jackson Avenue exit, when a driver traveling northbound reported that another vehicle, a GMC Envoy, merged aggressively into his lane.

According to the report, the driver honked his horn, which triggered a hostile reaction from the other motorist. The GMC driver responded with an obscene gesture, slowed down, and positioned himself behind the vehicle.

The situation escalated when the GMC driver allegedly began firing shots while both vehicles were still moving along the interstate.

Video later obtained by local media outlets shows a green SUV apparently crashed on the side of the road. In the footage, a man wearing a green shirt exits another vehicle and appears to continue firing at the SUV before quickly getting back into the car with a passenger.

According to police, one of the drivers had cut the other off, sparking the confrontation. The victim told officers that the suspect also sideswiped his vehicle before both came to a stop.

After the crash, the suspect got out of his vehicle and continued firing across the interstate.

Despite the severity of the incident, no injuries were reported. Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing, and a cellphone recovered at the scene could be key to the case.
