La policía investiga el incendio de dos vehículos en complejo de apartamentos Berclair

(LPL/FOX13) – Dos autos se incendiaron en el estacionamiento de un complejo de apartamentos en Bartlett Road el jueves por la mañana, pero quienes se encontraban cerca creen que no fue un accidente.

El Departamento de Policía de Memphis está investigando el incendio, que se reportó a las 5:37 a. m. cerca de Biscoe Avenue, en los Apartamentos Summereast en Berclair. No se reportaron heridos.

“Solo escuché como dos fuertes explosiones y me di cuenta de que era un auto en llamas al costado del complejo de apartamentos”, dijo una mujer en la zona.
No se sabe con certeza qué causó el incendio, pero la dueña de uno de los vehículos declaró a los medios locales que su auto fue incendiado presuntamente por su exnovio, quien, según ella, tiene antecedentes de comportamiento violento.

Los empleados del complejo de apartamentos afirman que las imágenes de video del incidente muestran a un hombre vertiendo algún tipo de líquido sobre uno de los autos antes de prenderle fuego. Las llamas luego se propagaron al segundo vehículo.

La mujer dice que ahora no tiene auto para ir a trabajar y está tratando de decidir qué hacer a continuación. “Lo lamento por ella, porque ya sabes que es difícil moverse por aquí”, dijo una mujer.
Quienes quedaron recuperando lo que pudieron de sus vehículos calcinados dicen que esperan que el responsable rinda cuentas.

“Esto demuestra que no tienen conciencia ni corazón”, dijo una mujer.

MPD investigate two-vehicle fire at Berclair apartment complex

(LPL/FOX13) – Two cars caught fire in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Bartlett Road Thursday morning, but those nearby believe this was no accident.

The Memphis Police Department is investigating the fire, which was reported at 5:37 a.m. near Biscoe Avenue at the Summereast Apartments in Berclair. No injuries were reported.

“Just heard like two big booms and noticed that it was a car on the side of the apartment complex on fire,” said a woman in the area.
It is unclear what caused the fire, but the owner of one of the vehicles told local media her car was allegedly set aflame by her ex-boyfriend, who she says has a history of violent behavior.

Employees at the apartment complex say video footage of the entire incident shows a man pouring some sort of liquid over one of the cars before lighting it on fire. The flames then spread to the second vehicle.

The woman says she is now without a car for work and is trying to figure out her next steps.
“I hate that for her because you know it’s hard out here to get around,” said a woman.
Those left to recover what they can from their charred vehicles say they hope the person responsible will be held accountable.

“It just shows they have no conscience or heart,” said a woman.
