La policía busca a dos sospechosos del tiroteo en una gasolinera de Hickory Hill que hirió gravemente a un joven de 14 años

(LPL/FOX13) – Un adolescente de Memphis lucha por su vida después de que, según la policía, recibiera un disparo frente a una gasolinera de Hickory Hill la madrugada del viernes.

Según el Departamento de Policía de Memphis (MPD), los agentes acudieron a un tiroteo alrededor de las 3:00 a. m. en la gasolinera Exxon de Kirby Parkway. Al llegar, encontraron a un joven de 14 años con una herida de bala en el lado izquierdo del abdomen.

La policía informó que dos hombres entraron a la gasolinera portando lo que parecía ser un rifle tipo AR. Al salir, se enfrentaron al adolescente. Momentos después, según los investigadores, uno de ellos disparó un solo tiro antes de que ambos sospechosos huyeran hacia el norte por Kirby Parkway.
Un video de vigilancia publicado por la policía muestra al adolescente tambaleándose tras recibir el disparo. El Departamento de Bomberos de Memphis lo trasladó al Hospital Infantil Le Bonheur en estado crítico.

Los vecinos declararon a FOX13 que este tiroteo pone de relieve los peligros que enfrentan los jóvenes de Memphis en cuanto a la delincuencia y la violencia.

“No debería haber salido a esa hora. De noche”, dijo Torrez Shelly, una vecina. “Memphis, tenemos que mejorar”.
Otra residente, Makayla Genae, comentó que a menudo ve a niños deambulando cerca de la gasolinera a altas horas de la noche.

“Cuando llego a la gasolinera, veo niños corriendo por aquí todo el tiempo, simplemente deambulando. Así que, sí, definitivamente quiero saber qué están haciendo los padres para involucrarse con estos niños”, dijo Genae.

Shelly añadió que tragedias como esta son un recordatorio para mantenerse alerta: “Solo puedo decir: ¡Cuídense, Memphis! Vigilantes. ¡Manténganse alerta!”.
Hasta el sábado por la noche, el adolescente permanecía en estado crítico. La policía seguía buscando a los sospechosos.

Police looking for two suspects in Hickory Hill gas station shooting that seriously injured 14-year-old boy

(LPL/FOX13) – A Memphis teen is fighting for his life after police said he was shot outside a Hickory Hill gas station early Friday morning.

According to the Memphis Police Department (MPD), officers responded to a shooting around 3 a.m. at the Exxon on Kirby Parkway. When they arrived, they found a 14-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound to the left side of his abdomen.

Police said two men had entered the store carrying what appeared to be an AR-style rifle. When the men walked back outside, they confronted the teen. Moments later, investigators said, one of them fired a single shot before both suspects ran northbound on Kirby Parkway.
Surveillance video released by police shows the teen stumbling away after being shot. Memphis Fire transported him to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in critical condition.

Neighbors told FOX13 this shooting highlights the dangers Memphis youth face when it comes to crime and violence.

“He shouldn’t have been [out] at that time. At night,” said Torrez Shelly, a neighbor. “Memphis, we got to do better.”
Another resident, Makayla Genae, said she often sees kids wandering near the gas station late at night.

“When I come to the gas station, I see kids running out here all the time just wandering. So, yeah, I definitely want to know what the parents are doing to be involved with these kids,” Genae said.

Shelly added that tragedies like this are a reminder to stay alert: “All I can say is, be safe, Memphis. Vigilant. Head on a swivel.”
As of Saturday night, the teen remained in critical condition. Police were still searching for the suspects.
