Dos mujeres y autor del crimen murieron en tiroteo en aeropuerto e iglesia de Kentucky

(LPL/AFP) – Al menos dos mujeres murieron, además del presunto autor del hecho, y tres hombres quedaron heridos en un tiroteo ocurrido este domingo en la zona del aeropuerto Blue Grass y una iglesia de Lexington, la segunda mayor ciudad de Kentucky, en el sur de Estados Unidos, según informó el gobernador del estado, Andy Beshear.

“Me parte el corazón compartir que el tiroteo en Lexington en la Iglesia Bautista Richmond Road ha cobrado la vida de personas. Otros heridos, incluyendo a un oficial de la Policía del Estado de Kentucky, del primer sitio, están recibiendo atención en un hospital cercano. También han asesinado al tirador”, expuso Beshear en X.

Las dos personas que murieron son mujeres que estaban en la iglesia, donde también quedaron dos hombres heridos, detalló Lawrence Weathers, el jefe de Policía de Lexington, en una conferencia de prensa.
Aunque no reveló la identidad del presunto responsable, el oficial reportó que “pudo haber tenido una conexión con los individuos en la iglesia”.

El incidente comenzó en la calle Terminal Drive, del aeropuerto de Blue Grass, en Lexington, donde el sospechoso primero disparó contra el agente, aunque ocurrió fuera de la terminal, según Weathers.
El hombre después huyó de la escena hasta llegar a la Iglesia Bautista Richmond Road, donde las autoridades lo interceptaron.

Two women and gunman killed in shooting at Kentucky airport and church

(LPL/AFP) – At least two women were killed, along with the suspected gunman, and three men were wounded in a shooting that occurred Sunday near the Blue Grass Airport and a church in Lexington, Kentucky’s second-largest city in the southern United States, according to Governor Andy Beshear.

“It breaks my heart to share that the shooting in Lexington at the Richmond Road Baptist Church has claimed lives. Others injured, including a Kentucky State Police officer from the first location, are receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. The shooter has also been killed,” Beshear told X.

The two people who died are women who were at the church, where two men were also wounded, Lexington Police Chief Lawrence Weathers said at a press conference.
Although he did not reveal the identity of the suspected gunman, the officer reported that “he may have had a connection to the individuals at the church.”

The incident began on Terminal Drive at Blue Grass Airport in Lexington, where the suspect first fired at the officer, although it occurred outside the terminal, according to Weathers.
The man then fled the scene until he reached Richmond Road Baptist Church, where authorities intercepted him.
