El hasta ahora único sobreviviente del avión de Air India, salió caminando del accidente

(LPL/CNN) – Como Ramesh Viswashkumar fue identificado el hasta ahora único sobreviviente del accidente del vuelo AI171 de Air India registrado este jueves. El hombre, un ciudadano británico de 48 años de edad, al parecer solo sufrió rasguños y salió caminando del lugar de los hechos.

En un video compartido por medios locales y que se ha hecho viral en redes sociales, se puede ver al hombre vistiendo una camiseta blanca con manchas de sangre, pantalón oscuro, y cojeando visiblemente. Su rostro reflejaba dolor, enojo y desconcierto.
El hombre se dirigía de regreso a Londres junto a su hermano, Ajay Kumar Ramesh, de 45 años, con quien había pasado unos días en la ciudad costera de Diu. Ambos abordaron el vuelo de Air India con destino al aeropuerto de Gatwick, en el Reino Unido, reseñó el Hindustan Times.

Viswashkumar, británico de origen indio, viajaba en clase económica, en el asiento 11A, según los datos del boleto de avión de Air India que aún conservaba en su bolsillo cuando fue atendido en un hospital.

Según los reportes del medio local India Today, Ramesh habría tomado una drástica decisión justo antes de que se produjera la colisión: saltar de la aeronave para caer sobre algún terreno estable. Esto fue posible debido a que el avión todavía se encontraba a baja altura.

“Cuando me levanté, había cadáveres a mi alrededor. Tenía miedo. Me levanté y corrí. Había restos del avión por todas partes”, declaró Vishwashkumar al diario indio Hindustan Times.
En el video que circula en redes, se lo ve caminando hacia una ambulancia rodeado de personas que le hablan, mientras él parece aturdido y con gestos de molestia ante lo ocurrido.

Vishwashkumar vive desde hace dos décadas en Londres, donde también residen su esposa y su hijo. Las autoridades no han ofrecido un parte médico oficial sobre su estado, pero las imágenes indican que estaba consciente, con heridas visibles, y que logró moverse por sus propios medios tras el impacto.

The only survivor of the Air India plane so far walked away from the crash.

(LPL/CNN) – Ramesh Viswashkumar has been identified as the sole survivor of the Air India flight AI171 crash that occurred Thursday. The man, a 48-year-old British citizen, apparently suffered only scratches and walked away from the scene.

In a video shared by local media and which has gone viral on social media, the man can be seen wearing a white T-shirt with blood stains, dark pants, and visibly limping. His face reflected pain, anger, and bewilderment.
The man was heading back to London with his brother, Ajay Kumar Ramesh, 45, with whom he had spent a few days in the coastal city of Diu. The two boarded the Air India flight to Gatwick Airport in the United Kingdom, the Hindustan Times reported.

Viswashkumar, a British man of Indian origin, was traveling in economy class, in seat 11A, according to the Air India ticket still in his pocket when he was treated at the hospital.

According to local media outlet India Today, Ramesh made a drastic decision just before the collision: to jump out of the aircraft and land on stable ground. This was possible because the plane was still at a low altitude.

“When I got up, there were dead bodies all around me. I was scared. I got up and ran. There was debris from the plane everywhere,” Vishwashkumar told the Indian newspaper Hindustan Times.
In the video circulating online, he is seen walking toward an ambulance surrounded by people talking to him, while he appears dazed and upset by what happened.

“I can’t find my brother. He was traveling with me and was in another row. Please help me find him,” he said.
Vishwashkumar has lived in London for two decades, where his wife and son also live. Authorities have not released an official medical report on his condition, but the images indicate that he was conscious, with visible injuries, and that he managed to move on his own after the impact.
