(LPL/FOX13) – Un hombre armado con un hacha recibió un disparo tras intentar entrar a robar en una casa de Binghampton la madrugada del viernes, según informó la policía.

El Departamento de Policía de Memphis (MPD) informó que todo comenzó alrededor de la medianoche, cuando los agentes acudieron a un robo en la avenida Colemen, cerca de la calle North Holmes. Al llegar, encontraron a un hombre tendido en medio de la calle con un hacha a su lado, según la policía.

Un testigo declaró a los investigadores que estaba sentado en su coche, en la entrada, cuando vio a un hombre acercarse a una casa y golpear repetidamente la puerta principal con un hacha. El testigo afirmó que salió del coche para acercarse al hombre, lo que lo obligó a huir.
El testigo declaró al MPD que persiguió al hombre y añadió que lo vio tropezar y caer sobre el hacha. El hombre, cuya identidad no ha sido revelada, declaró posteriormente a los investigadores que sí tropezó y cayó sobre el hacha, pero se negó a revelar la causa del incidente.

La policía informó que el hombre fue trasladado a un hospital en estado crítico. Posteriormente, el personal del hospital determinó que había recibido un disparo. Tras este incidente, todas las personas que se encontraban en la vivienda ubicada en la avenida Coleman fueron detenidas, según el Departamento de Policía de Minneapolis (MPD).

La policía también indicó que los investigadores encontraron varios casquillos de bala en la zona.

Axe-wielding man shot after trying to break into Binghampton home

(LPL/FOX13) – A man armed with an axe was shot after he tried to break into a Binghampton home early Friday morning, police said.

The Memphis Police Department (MPD) said it all started around midnight, when officers responded to a burglary on Colemen Avenue off North Holmes Street. They arrived to find a man lying in the middle of the street with an axe next to him, police said.

A witness told investigators that he was sitting in his car in the driveway when he saw a man walk up to a home and repeatedly strike the front door with an axe. The witness said he got out of his car to approach the man, leading him to run off.
The witness told MPD that he chased after the man, adding that he saw him trip and land on the axe. The man, who has not been identified, later told investigators that he did trip and fall on his axe but declined to say what led to the encounter.

Police said the man was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Hospital staff later found that he had been shot. After that development, everyone inside the home on Coleman Avenue was detained, MPD said.

Police also said investigators found several spent shell casings in the area.
