Policía de Memphis acusó a una madre que tenía a su hija momificada en un cuarto de hotel

(LPL) – Una mujer fue arrestada luego de que las autoridades encontraran el cuerpo momificado de su hija dentro de una habitación de hotel en el sur de Memphis, según informó el Departamento de Policía de Memphis.

Kimberly Moore, de 46 años, enfrenta cargos por abuso de un cadáver y por no reportar el hallazgo de un cuerpo sin vida.

El descubrimiento ocurrió el jueves, cuando agentes del condado respondieron a una solicitud de verificación de bienestar en el Home Inn Suites, ubicado en Lowrance Road. El gerente del hotel había solicitado ayuda tras notar el comportamiento extraño de Moore, quien afirmaba que su esposo era el dueño del establecimiento.

En un principio, los agentes no notaron nada alarmante en el comportamiento de la mujer. Sin embargo, durante la conversación con ella, percibieron un fuerte olor proveniente de la habitación. Al preguntarle por el olor, Moore actuó como si no lo percibiera y comenzó a comportarse de forma inusual.

Al revisar la habitación, los agentes encontraron a la hija de Moore acostada en la cama, sin signos vitales. El cuerpo estaba frío al tacto, mostraba señales de desnutrición y presentaba un avanzado estado de descomposición, que las autoridades describieron como “momificación”. El médico forense determinó que el cuerpo llevaba allí “desde hace bastante tiempo”. También se encontraron insectos en el cadáver.

Moore fue arrestada en el lugar. Según los documentos judiciales, se encontraba en un aparente estado de crisis mental y fue evaluada por profesionales de salud. Durante el interrogatorio, la mujer afirmó que su hija “seguía con ella” y que “Dios estaba con ambas”. También mencionó que leía la Biblia, pero se negó a responder si había comido o dormido recientemente.

Los detectives concluyeron que Moore sufría alucinaciones y fue trasladada a un centro de salud para recibir tratamiento psiquiátrico.

Actualmente, Moore permanece detenida en la cárcel del condado de Shelby. Hasta el momento, no se le ha fijado una fianza.

Memphis police charged a mother who had her daughter mummified in a hotel room

(LPL) – A woman has been arrested after authorities discovered the mummified body of her daughter inside a hotel room in South Memphis, according to the Memphis Police Department.

Kimberly Moore, 46, faces charges of abuse of a corpse and failure to report the discovery of a dead body.

The discovery was made Thursday when county deputies responded to a welfare check request at the Home Inn Suites on Lowrance Road. The hotel manager had contacted authorities after noticing Moore’s strange behavior; she claimed her husband owned the hotel.

At first, deputies did not observe anything alarming in Moore’s behavior. However, during their conversation with her, they noticed a strong odor coming from the room. When asked about the smell, Moore acted as if she didn’t notice it and began behaving oddly.

Upon inspecting the room, deputies found Moore’s daughter lying on the bed with no signs of life. The body was cold to the touch, showed signs of malnourishment, and was in an advanced state of decomposition described as “mummified.” The medical examiner determined the body had been there “for quite some time.” Flies were also found on the corpse.

Moore was taken into custody. According to court records, she was in a mental health crisis and was evaluated by professionals. During questioning, she stated that her daughter “is still with her” and that “God is with both of them.” She also mentioned reading the Bible but refused to answer whether she had eaten or slept recently.

Detectives concluded that Moore was experiencing hallucinations and transferred her to a healthcare facility for further psychiatric evaluation.

Moore is currently being held at the Shelby County Jail East. No bond has been set.
