Policía de Nueva York mata a tiros a mujer acusada de apuñalar a dos personas en Times Square

(LPL) – Una mujer murió después de que agentes del Departamento de Policía de Nueva York (NYPD) le dispararan en Times Square, luego de que presuntamente apuñalara a dos personas con cuchillos durante la tarde del lunes.

La mujer fue identificada como Pamela Cisneros, de 49 años y residente de Queens. De acuerdo con las autoridades, el primer ataque ocurrió cerca de West 41st Street y Seventh Avenue, donde Cisneros habría apuñalado en el abdomen a un hombre de 68 años que acababa de salir del metro. El hombre fue trasladado a un hospital y se encuentra estable.

Segundos después, la mujer habría atacado a otra persona, una mujer de 32 años, quien también fue apuñalada en el abdomen. La víctima murió posteriormente en el hospital.

Agentes localizaron a Cisneros cerca de la subestación policial de Times Square. Según la policía, llevaba dos cuchillos y se negó repetidamente a soltarlos. Los oficiales intentaron detenerla mediante órdenes verbales y utilizaron pistolas eléctricas, pero los dispositivos no lograron detenerla.

Las autoridades dijeron que Cisneros continuó avanzando hacia los agentes mientras sostenía los cuchillos, lo que llevó a varios policías a abrir fuego. La mujer fue trasladada a Bellevue Hospital, donde murió.

La comisionada del NYPD, Jessica Tisch, calificó los ataques como aleatorios y no provocados y señaló que, hasta el momento, no existe indicio de que se trate de un acto de terrorismo. Las autoridades también indicaron que Cisneros tenía antecedentes de problemas de salud mental, aunque no contaba con arrestos previos.

El tiroteo policial está siendo investigado, como ocurre de manera habitual en este tipo de incidentes. Las cámaras corporales de los agentes también registraron el enfrentamiento.

NYPD Shoots and Kills Woman Accused of Stabbing Two People in Times Square

(LPL) – A woman died after being shot by NYPD officers in Times Square, following an incident on Monday afternoon in which she allegedly stabbed two people.

The woman was identified as Pamela Cisneros, a 49-year-old resident of Queens. According to authorities, the first attack occurred near West 41st Street and Seventh Avenue, where Cisneros allegedly stabbed a 68-year-old man in the abdomen just after he exited the subway. The man was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition.

Seconds later, the woman allegedly attacked another person—a 32-year-old woman—who was also stabbed in the abdomen. That victim later died at the hospital.

Officers located Cisneros near the Times Square police substation. Police stated that she was carrying two knives and repeatedly refused to drop them. Officers attempted to subdue her using verbal commands and Tasers, but the devices failed to stop her.

Authorities said Cisneros continued to advance toward the officers while holding the knives, prompting several police officers to open fire. She was transported to Bellevue Hospital, where she died.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch described the attacks as random and unprovoked, noting that there is currently no indication of terrorism. Authorities also stated that Cisneros had a history of mental health issues, though she had no prior arrests.

The police shooting is under investigation, as is standard procedure for such incidents. The officers’ body-worn cameras also recorded the confrontation.
