(LPL/WMC) –Un proyecto de ley que exigiría a las fuerzas del orden de Tennessee informar mensualmente al Departamento de Seguridad sobre cada interacción que sus oficiales/agentes tengan con inmigrantes indocumentados fue aprobado en el Senado.
El miércoles, el proyecto de ley SB 0750/HB 0833 fue aprobado en el Senado por 26 votos a favor y 5 en contra. Fue presentado por el senador Ken Yager (republicano por Kingston) y la representante Kelly Keisling (republicana por Byrdstown).
El proyecto de ley exige que todas las agencias del orden público del estado (excluyendo el TBI) informen mensualmente sobre cada interacción con un inmigrante indocumentado durante el mes anterior. En dichos informes, se debe incluir la fecha de las interacciones, el número de inmigrantes indocumentados detectados y una descripción de sus documentos de identificación.
Se prevé que el proyecto de ley se presente ante el Comité de Gobierno Estatal y Local de la Cámara de Representantes el miércoles.
El proyecto de ley también exige que las fuerzas del orden confisquen documentos de identificación falsos si se encuentran al arrestar a un inmigrante indocumentado por un delito.
El Departamento de Seguridad también debe presentar un informe a la Asamblea General anualmente, antes del 1 de diciembre, a solicitud del Presidente del Senado o del Presidente de la Cámara de Representantes.
El informe debe incluir una evaluación de la población de inmigrantes indocumentados en Tennessee y cualquier organización criminal asociada, según explica el resumen del proyecto de ley. También incluirá un análisis de las amenazas para el estado.
“Este proyecto de ley exige que el departamento comparta sus informes con las fuerzas del orden para garantizar un enfoque integral para abordar los problemas relacionados con los inmigrantes indocumentados y cualquier actividad ilegal en la que participen. Además, el departamento debe compartir sus informes con el TBI periódicamente”, explica el proyecto de ley.

On Wednesday, SB 0750/HB 0833 was passed in the Senate by a vote of 26 to 5. It was introduced by Sen. Ken Yager (R-Kingston) and Rep. Kelly Keisling (R-Byrdstown).
The bill requires all law enforcement agencies in the state (excluding the TBI) to report monthly each interaction with an illegal immigrant over the previous month. In those reports, the date of the interactions, the number of illegal immigrants encountered and a description of their identification documents must be included.
It’s scheduled to be heard in the House State & Local Government Committee on Wednesday.
The bill also requires law enforcement to confiscate fake identification documents if found while arresting an illegal immigrant for a crime.
The Department of Safety must also provide a report to the General Assembly by December 1 annually at the request of the Speaker of the Senate or the Speaker of the House.
The report must include an assessment of the population of illegal immigrants in Tennessee and any associated criminal enterprise, the bill’s summary explains. It will also include a threat analysis for the state.
“This bill requires the department to share its reports with law enforcement agencies to ensure an integrated approach to addressing issues with illegal aliens and any unlawful activities in which they are engaged. Additionally, the department must share its reports with the TBI on a regular basis,” the bill explains.
