(LPL) – An immigrant rights advocacy organization has filed a lawsuit against the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), accusing officers of conducting traffic stops specifically targeting immigrants or Hispanic drivers.

The lawsuit was filed by the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC), which alleges that state troopers have worked in conjunction with federal immigration agents to stop vehicles for alleged minor infractions with the aim of investigating the occupants’ immigration status.
