Trump dice que suspenderá el impuesto federal a la gasolina para ayudar a hacer frente a los altos precios de los combustibles

(LPL/UNSN) – Este lunes 11 de mayo, el presidente Donald Trump dijo que buscará suspender de manera temporal el impuesto federal al combustible hasta que bajen los precios de los hidrocarburos que se han disparado por la guerra en Oriente Medio, según CBS.

“Vamos a eliminar el impuesto a la gasolina por un periodo de tiempo, y cuando baje el precio, permitiremos que se reintroduzca gradualmente”, dijo Trump en una entrevista telefónica.
Asimismo, el mandatario republicano recalcó que tan pronto termine con Irán, todos podrán ver cómo la gasolina y el petróleo caen en picada.
Los impuestos federales incluyen 18,3 centavos por galón para la gasolina y 24,3 centavos por galón para el diésel.

Cabe destacar que e l secretario de Energía de Estados Unidos, Chris Wright, sostuvo este domingo 10 de mayo a la cadena NBC que todas las medidas que puedan tomarse para bajar el precio de las gasolineras contaban con el apoyo de la administración de Trump.
Para que el presidente Donald Trump pueda quitar el impuesto federal del combustible, necesita la aprobación del Congreso.

Primordialmente, tendría que ser aprobado por la Cámara de Representantes con una mayoría simple, que generalmente son 218 votos de un total de 435 miembros. Lo cual es sencillo para el mandatario republicano, porque actualmente su partido tiene el control.

Después tendría que pasar por el Senado, en donde se necesitan 51 votos para aprobar la ley, pero para superar el ” filibusterismo” (una táctica para bloquear votaciones) se requieren 60 votos. En el dado caso de que llegara a haber un empate, el que podría desempatar sería el vicepresidente, JD Vance.
El día de hoy, el galón de gasolina en Estados Unidos se posicionó en $4.520 USD, de acuerdo con la Asociación Estadounidense del Automóvil ( AAA, por sus siglas en inglés).

Este precio tiene un incremento del 50% desde que inició el conflicto en Oriente Medio, ya que antes de iniciara la guerra, el costo por galón estaba en $2.98.
