(LPL/CNN) – Más de 20.000 inmigrantes indocumentados fueron arrestados durante el primer mes de Donald Trump como presidente, según el Departamento de Seguridad Nacional (DHS, por sus siglas en inglés).
El Gobierno de Trump lanzó una ofensiva contra la inmigración en los momentos posteriores a su toma de posesión y publicó los totales diarios de arrestos durante sus primeras dos semanas en el cargo. El ritmo de arrestos generales, es decir, los realizados en la comunidad, superó al del Gobierno de Biden. En el último año fiscal, bajo el mandato de Biden, el Servicio de Inmigración y Control de Aduanas de EE.UU. (ICE, por sus siglas en inglés) realizó alrededor de 33.000 arrestos generales.
“El presidente Trump y esta administración están salvando vidas todos los días debido a las acciones que estamos tomando para asegurar la frontera y deportar a criminales extranjeros ilegales. Se dejó a cientos de miles de criminales entrar a este país ilegalmente. Los estamos enviando a casa, y nunca se les permitirá regresar”, dijo la secretaria del DHS, Kristi Noem, en un comunicado el día de ayer.

The Trump administration launched an immigration crackdown in the moments after taking office and released daily arrest totals during its first two weeks in office. The pace of overall arrests — meaning those made in the community — outpaced that of the Biden administration. In the last fiscal year, under Biden, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) made about 33,000 overall arrests.
“President Trump and this administration are saving lives every day because of the actions we are taking to secure the border and deport illegal alien criminals. Hundreds of thousands of criminals were allowed to enter this country illegally. “We are sending them home, and they will never be allowed to return,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said in a statement yesterday.
