Hombre mata al novio de su compañera de piso tras presunto abuso

(LPL) – Un hombre fue arrestado en Memphis tras disparar y matar al novio de su compañera de piso, en un hecho que, según él, ocurrió luego de que el fallecido agrediera a la mujer y usara su arma para dispararle.

Tajee Turnage, de 27 años, enfrenta cargos de asesinato en primer grado por la muerte de Timothy Echols.

Todo comenzó la madrugada del domingo, cuando la policía recibió un reporte de disparos en la cuadra 3400 de Southern Avenue. Al llegar, encontraron a Echols con múltiples heridas de bala. Fue llevado al hospital Regional One en estado crítico, donde murió poco después.

Según el informe policial, Turnage dijo que estaba trabajando como guardia de seguridad armado cuando recibió una videollamada de su compañera de piso. Ella le dijo que su novio, Timothy Echols, había tomado el arma de Turnage sin permiso, la golpeó en la cara durante una discusión y disparó contra su vehículo mientras ella intentaba escapar.

La mujer logró alejarse hasta que su auto dejó de funcionar cerca del parque C.W. Davis. Desde allí, le envió su ubicación a Turnage y empezó a caminar.

Turnage fue a buscarla, pero al llegar cerca del lugar vio a Echols intentando salir en un vehículo. Dijo que Echols se agachó y le apuntó con un arma, por lo que disparó con su mini Draco. Echols cayó del auto, y mientras intentaba levantarse, Turnage volvió a apuntarle y exigió saber dónde estaba su arma. Luego afirmó haberla encontrado dentro del vehículo de Echols.

La policía revisó imágenes de video del lugar como parte de la investigación.

Turnage fue arrestado en la escena. Aún no se ha fijado su fianza, y deberá comparecer ante la corte el martes.

Man kills roommate’s boyfriend after alleged abuse

(LPL) – A man has been arrested in Memphis after shooting and killing his roommate’s boyfriend, in what he claims was an act of defense following an alleged assault and gunfire.

Tajee Turnage, 27, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Timothy Echols.

The incident happened early Sunday morning, when police responded to a shooting on the 3400 block of Southern Avenue. Officers found Echols with multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Regional One Hospital in critical condition but later died.

According to police reports, Turnage said he was working as an armed security guard when he received a FaceTime call from his roommate. She told him that her boyfriend, Timothy Echols, had taken Turnage’s gun without permission, punched her during an argument, and fired shots at her vehicle as she tried to leave.

The woman managed to drive away until her car broke down near C.W. Davis Park. She shared her location with Turnage and began walking.

Turnage said he went to pick her up, but when he arrived near the area, he saw Echols attempting to drive away. He claimed Echols ducked and pointed a gun at him, prompting Turnage to fire his mini Draco. Echols fell from the vehicle, and as he tried to get up, Turnage pointed the gun again and demanded to know where his weapon was. Turnage said he later found his handgun inside Echols’ car.

Police say video footage of the incident was obtained during the investigation.

Turnage was arrested at the scene. No bond has been set yet, and he is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
