Gobierno de Trump apeló decisión de juez de California de acabar TPS para venezolanos

(LPL/EN) – El gobierno de Estados Unidos apeló la decisión emitida hace algunos días por el juez Edward M. Chen, de una corte federal en California, de bloquear la orden del presidente Donald Trump de poner fin al Estatus de Protección Temporal (TPS) para venezolanos y haitianos.

La activista venezolana Adelyz Ferro, directora ejecutiva de Venezuelan American Caucus, informó en la cuenta en Instagram de la organización que Estados Unidos ya tenía preparada su primera apelación para ser presentada ante el juez Chen.
El escrito, introducido electrónicamente el pasado 6 de septiembre, solicita que se detenga la aplicación de la decisión del caso, mientras el Ejecutivo deciden apelar a la Corte del Noveno Circuito.

Pese a ello, Ferro aclaró: “Nada ha cambiado, pero ustedes deben imaginarse lo que esperamos de esa primera apelación. Incluso, la del Noveno Circuito. Pero nada ha cambiado, el TPS está vigente y la decisión del juez debe ser acatada por el Departamento de Seguridad Nacional”.

Ferro añadió que están positivos y optimistas, y aclaró que el gobierno de Estados Unidos está en su derecho de apelar. “Un día a la vez, una batalla a la vez”, dijo.
Finalmente, recomendó a los migrantes re-registrarse para el TPS y aplicar a la extensión, a más tardar este miércoles 10 de septiembre.

Trump Administration Appeals California Judge’s Decision to End TPS for Venezuelans

(LPL/EN) – The United States government appealed the decision issued a few days ago by Judge Edward M. Chen of a federal court in California, blocking President Donald Trump’s order ending Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Venezuelans and Haitians.

Venezuelan activist Adelyz Ferro, executive director of the Venezuelan American Caucus, reported on the organization’s Instagram account that the United States had already prepared its first appeal to be filed with Judge Chen.
The brief, filed electronically on September 6, requests that the enforcement of the ruling in the case be halted while the executive branch decides whether to appeal to the Ninth Circuit Court.

Despite this, Ferro clarified: “Nothing has changed, but you should imagine what we expect from that first appeal. Even the one from the Ninth Circuit. But nothing has changed; TPS is in effect, and the judge’s decision must be followed by the Department of Homeland Security.”

Ferro added that they are positive and optimistic, and clarified that the United States government has the right to appeal. “One day at a time, one battle at a time,” he said.
Finally, he recommended that migrants re-register for TPS and apply for the extension no later than this Wednesday, September 10.
