Aumenta a 15 el número de heridos por el tiroteo en California que dejó 4 muertos

(EFE) – Las autoridades aumentaron el domingo a 15 el número de heridos en un tiroteo ocurrido durante la celebración de una fiesta infantil de cumpleaños en Stockton, en el norte de California (Estados Unidos), que se saldó con la muerte de 4 personas, entre ellos 3 niños.

El incidente tuvo lugar el sábado por la noche en un restaurante de la ciudad, donde unas 100 personas acudieron a celebrar un cumpleaños.

La policía, que cree que el tiroteo pudo ser “selectivo”, busca a uno o varios posibles tiradores.

Las autoridades del condado de San Joaquín informaron que entre los fallecidos había menores de 8, 9, y 14 años, y un joven de 21 años. Al menos uno de los 15 heridos se encuentra en estado crítico.

El Departamento del Alguacil del condado de San Joaquín (SJSD) informó de que el tiroteo ocurrió poco antes de las 18:00 hora local del sábado (02.00 GMT del domingo).

La alcaldesa de Stockton, Christina Fugazi, declaró el domingo a la televisora KCRA 3 que el tiroteo fue resultado de “violencia entre pandillas”.

Por su parte, el jefe del SJSD, Patrick Withrow, indicó que se encontraron armas de fuego en el techo del salón de eventos, pero se desconoce si alguna es el arma utilizada en el tiroteo.

Fugazi indicó que el domingo se había comunicado con el gobierno del presidente Donald Trump para pedir apoyo en la investigación, que está a cargo del departamento del alguacil.

El tiroteo golpeó la ciudad que este año había visto una disminución en los homicidios de 34 hasta la semana pasada, en comparación con los 46, que se registraron el año pasado en el mismo periodo.

Fugazi indicated that she had contacted the Trump administration on Sunday to request support in the investigation, which is being handled by the sheriff’s department.
