Authorities Investigate Link Between Four Deaths and an Abandoned Infant in Lake County
(LPL) – Authorities are investigating a possible connection between the discovery of four deceased individuals in Lake County and an abandoned infant found in Dyer County, according to Dyer County Sheriff Jeff Box.
The bodies were discovered overnight in Lake County. Their identities have not been released, pending notification of next of kin. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are assisting in both investigations.
“This is a deeply saddening day for our community. We are committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice is served,” said Sheriff Box.
The investigation began shortly after 3 p.m. on July 29, when the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office received a call about an incident on Old Highway 20 near the Tigrett area. A witness reported seeing either a dark-colored minivan or a white mid-size SUV abandon an infant in a car seat in the front yard of a random home before driving away. The witness immediately contacted 911.
The child has since been identified by authorities, though the name has not been made public. Emergency responders from Medical Center EMS and Crockett County Ambulance Service evaluated the baby, who appeared to be unharmed.
Investigators are seeking to speak with Cortney Rose, Matthew Wilson, and Adrianna Williams in connection with the case. The Dyer County Sheriff’s Office is also working closely with the Crockett County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Highway Patrol to locate those responsible for leaving the child.
Both the Dyer County and Lake County Sheriff’s Offices are coordinating efforts to resolve the two cases as quickly as possible.
