In Memphis and the Mid-South, temperatures will reach 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38°C) on both Monday and Tuesday. Due to high humidity, the heat index could climb to 110 or even 115 degrees; consequently, the National Weather Service has an Excessive Heat Warning in effect until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Authorities warn that these conditions can increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, particularly for older adults, children, and those working or engaging in activities outdoors. While heat is the primary threat, isolated storms bringing strong wind gusts and heavy rain could also develop during the afternoons.

Slight relief is expected starting Wednesday, with high temperatures hovering near 90 degrees. The likelihood of rain and thunderstorms will increase between Thursday and the weekend, helping to lower temperatures, though conditions will remain warm and humid.

Given these conditions, authorities recommend staying well-hydrated, avoiding prolonged sun exposure during the hottest hours of the day, wearing lightweight clothing, and staying in air-conditioned environments whenever possible. They also remind the public never to leave children or pets inside a vehicle and to pay special attention to family members and neighbors who may be more vulnerable to high temperatures.
