Chattanooga y Nashville recibirán a España y Japón rumbo al Mundial 2026

(LPL) – La FIFA anunció oficialmente las sedes de entrenamiento y concentración que utilizarán las 48 selecciones clasificadas al Mundial 2026, torneo que se disputará entre el 11 de junio y el 19 de julio en México, Canadá y Estados Unidos.

La mayoría de los equipos eligió establecerse en territorio estadounidense. De acuerdo con la FIFA, 39 selecciones tendrán su campamento base en Estados Unidos, mientras que siete lo harán en México y solo dos permanecerán en Canadá.

El director de operaciones del Mundial 2026, Heimo Schirgi, destacó la importancia de estas sedes para el desarrollo del torneo.

“Los campamentos base de los equipos son una parte integral del entramado de cualquier Copa del Mundo de la FIFA. Son los lugares donde los equipos echan raíces, entrenan, se recuperan y viven el ritmo cotidiano del torneo”, señaló.

En Tennessee, dos ciudades recibirán a selecciones mundialistas. España eligió Chattanooga como sede de entrenamiento y trabajará en las instalaciones de Baylor School. Por su parte, Japón tendrá su base en Nashville, utilizando las instalaciones del Nashville SC.

Entre las decisiones más llamativas figura la de la selección de Argentina, actual campeona del mundo, que establecerá su base en Kansas City, Kansas, utilizando el centro de entrenamiento del Sporting KC. Inglaterra también eligió el área de Kansas City, aunque se hospedará del lado de Misuri.

Brasil tendrá su campamento en el área de Nueva York-Nueva Jersey, mientras que Francia se instalará en Boston y Alemania entrenará en Winston-Salem, Carolina del Norte.

México albergará a siete selecciones, entre ellas Colombia, Uruguay, Sudáfrica y Corea del Sur. Uno de los casos que más llamó la atención fue el de Irán, que decidió instalarse en Tijuana. La presidenta mexicana, Claudia Sheinbaum, anunció previamente que el país permitiría al combinado iraní establecerse allí para evitar posibles restricciones de visado en Estados Unidos.

Canadá, anfitrión del torneo junto a México y Estados Unidos, permanecerá en Vancouver, mientras que Panamá será la otra selección que eligió territorio canadiense para concentrarse.

El Mundial 2026 será el primero en la historia con 48 selecciones y promete movilizar a miles de aficionados en toda Norteamérica.

Chattanooga and Nashville to Host Spain and Japan Ahead of 2026 World Cup

(LPL) – FIFA has officially announced the training and team base camps that will be utilized by the 48 national teams qualifying for the 2026 World Cup—a tournament set to take place between June 11 and July 19 across Mexico, Canada, and the United States.

The majority of the teams have chosen to base themselves on U.S. soil. According to FIFA, 39 national teams will establish their base camps in the United States, while seven will do so in Mexico, and only two will remain in Canada.

Heimo Schirgi, Chief Operating Officer of the 2026 World Cup, highlighted the importance of these locations for the successful execution of the tournament.

“Team base camps are an integral part of the fabric of any FIFA World Cup. They are the places where teams put down roots, train, recover, and experience the daily rhythm of the tournament,” he noted.

In Tennessee, two cities will host World Cup teams. Spain has selected Chattanooga as its training base and will utilize the facilities at Baylor School. Meanwhile, Japan will base itself in Nashville, making use of the Nashville SC facilities.

Among the most noteworthy decisions is that of the Argentine national team—the reigning world champions—which will establish its base in Kansas City, Kansas, utilizing the Sporting KC training center. England also chose the Kansas City area, though they will be staying on the Missouri side.

Brazil will set up its camp in the New York–New Jersey area, while France will settle in Boston, and Germany will train in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Mexico will host seven national teams, including Colombia, Uruguay, South Africa, and South Korea. One case that drew particular attention was that of Iran, which decided to base itself in Tijuana. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum had previously announced that the country would allow the Iranian squad to establish itself there in order to avoid potential visa restrictions in the United States. Canada, co-host of the tournament alongside Mexico and the United States, will remain in Vancouver, while Panama will be the other national team to choose Canadian territory for its training base.
