Conductor intentó cruzar antes que el tren y provocó accidente

(LPL) – Un conductor resultó herido y posteriormente fue arrestado luego de que intentara cruzar las vías férreas antes del paso de un tren y terminara colisionando con la locomotora durante la madrugada del viernes en Memphis.

El accidente ocurrió poco después de la medianoche en la intersección de Chiswood Street y Raleigh-Lagrange Road. De acuerdo con la Policía de Memphis (MPD), los oficiales respondieron a un reporte de choque entre un vehículo y un tren.

Al llegar al lugar, los agentes entrevistaron a un representante de la compañía ferroviaria y al conductor del tren, quienes indicaron que el vehículo intentó ganarle el paso al tren mientras este avanzaba en dirección oeste. Según las autoridades, el conductor trató de cruzar las vías antes de que llegara la locomotora, pero no logró hacerlo a tiempo y fue impactado.

Driver caused accident after attempting to beat train across crossing

(LPL) – A driver was injured and subsequently arrested after attempting to cross the tracks ahead of an oncoming train and colliding with the locomotive early Friday morning in Memphis.

The accident occurred shortly after midnight at the intersection of Chiswood Street and Raleigh-Lagrange Road. According to the Memphis Police Department (MPD), officers responded to a report of a collision between a vehicle and a train.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers spoke with a representative from the railway company and the train’s operator; both stated that the vehicle had attempted to beat the train across the crossing as it traveled westbound.
