Dos menores detenidos tras llevar armas a escuelas de Millington y Whitehaven

(LPL/EN) – Dos menores fueron detenidos este martes en incidentes separados relacionados con armas de fuego en propiedades escolares de Millington y Whitehaven.

El primer caso ocurrió en Millington High School, donde un estudiante fue arrestado la mañana del martes por un incidente ocurrido el lunes por la tarde.

De acuerdo con los alguaciles, mientras los estudiantes salían de la escuela, uno de ellos tomó una fotografía de otro estudiante sosteniendo una pistola dentro de un vehículo estacionado en el área de estacionamiento del plantel. La imagen fue posteriormente publicada en internet.

Las autoridades iniciaron una investigación y lograron identificar al estudiante involucrado como un joven de 16 años. Posteriormente, los agentes encontraron en la mochila del adolescente una pistola que había sido reportada como robada.

El menor fue acusado de robo de propiedad y portar un arma en una propiedad escolar. Después de su arresto, fue trasladado al Youth Justice and Education Center, donde quedó bajo custodia de las autoridades juveniles.

En un incidente separado ocurrido en Whitehaven High School, un menor fue detenido este martes después de que agentes respondieran a una llamada que reportaba la presencia de una persona armada dentro del plantel.

La Policía de Memphis confirmó la detención, pero hasta el momento no ha informado si el menor enfrenta cargos relacionados con el incidente.

Los dos casos ocurrieron de manera independiente y no existe información que indique que estén relacionados. Las autoridades continúan investigando las circunstancias de ambos incidentes.

Two minors detained after bringing weapons to Millington and Whitehaven schools

(LPL) – Two minors were detained on Tuesday in separate incidents involving firearms on school grounds in Millington and Whitehaven.

The first incident occurred at Millington High School, where a student was arrested Tuesday morning regarding an event that took place Monday afternoon.

According to deputies, as students were leaving school, one student took a photo of another holding a handgun inside a vehicle parked in the school’s parking lot. The image was subsequently posted online.

Authorities launched an investigation and identified the student involved as a 16-year-old. Officers later found a handgun in the teenager’s backpack that had been reported stolen.

The minor was charged with theft of property and carrying a weapon on school grounds. Following his arrest, he was taken to the Youth Justice and Education Center, where he was placed in the custody of juvenile authorities.

In a separate incident at Whitehaven High School, a minor was detained on Tuesday after officers responded to a call reporting an armed person on campus.

Memphis Police confirmed the detention but have not yet stated whether the minor faces charges related to the incident.

The two cases occurred independently, and there is no information indicating they are connected. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding both incidents.
