EE UU reitera fin del TPS: “Venezuela ya no cumple con los requisitos”

(LPL/EN) – “Venezuela ya no cumple con los requisitos para su designación al Estatus de Protección Temporal (TPS)”, reiteró este lunes 6 de octubre el Servicio de Ciudadanía e Inmigración de Estados Unidos (USCIS, por sus siglas en inglés).

En un aviso publicado en su página web, el organismo señaló que la secretaria de Seguridad Nacional, Kristi Noem, tomó la decisión “tras revisar las condiciones del país y consultar con las agencias gubernamentales correspondientes”.
La resolución establece que el TPS otorgado en 2023 será terminado por considerarse “contrario al interés nacional”, y que el TPS de 2021 finalizará definitivamente el 7 de noviembre de 2025, a las 11:59 pm.

El comunicado de USCIS precisa que los beneficiarios que recibieron su Documento de Autorización de Empleo antes del 5 de febrero de 2025, con fecha de vencimiento del 2 de octubre de 2026, mantendrán su permiso de trabajo hasta esa fecha.

Sin embargo, una vez vencido ese periodo, no se renovarán los permisos ni se aceptarán nuevas solicitudes bajo el amparo del TPS venezolano, lo que deja a miles de migrantes en una situación migratoria incierta.

US Reiterates TPS Termination: “Venezuela No Longer Meets Requirements”

(LPL/EN) – “Venezuela no longer meets the requirements for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designation,” the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) reiterated this Monday, October 6.

In a notice posted on its website, the agency stated that Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem made the decision “after reviewing the country’s conditions and consulting with the appropriate government agencies.”
The resolution establishes that the TPS granted in 2023 will be terminated because it is considered “contrary to the national interest,” and that the 2021 TPS will definitively end on November 7, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.

The USCIS statement specifies that beneficiaries who received their Employment Authorization Documents before February 5, 2025, with an expiration date of October 2, 2026, will retain their work permits until that date.

However, once that period expires, permits will not be renewed nor will new applications be accepted under Venezuelan TPS, leaving thousands of migrants in an uncertain immigration status.
