Jueza bloquea la revocación del parole por parte de Trump para migrantes que ingresaron legalmente a EE. UU. con la aplicación CBP One

El programa CBP One se puso en marcha en 2023. El fallo se aplica a todos los migrantes que ingresaron a Estados Unidos utilizando la aplicación entre el 16 de mayo de 2023 y el 19 de enero de 2025. Judge Blocks Trump’s Revocation of Parole for Migrants Who Entered U.S. Legally via CBP One App

(LPL/NPR) – A federal judge in Boston ruled that the Trump administration violated the law by terminating the immigration status of nearly 900,000 migrants who arrived in the United States through a Biden-era parole program known as CBP One.

The program allowed migrants waiting in Mexico to schedule an appointment to present themselves at a port of entry along the U.S.-Mexico border. After undergoing a vetting process, they were permitted to enter the country while awaiting court hearings on their asylum applications.

The Trump administration abruptly canceled the CBP One program in April of last year. The administration sent emails to the migrants notifying them that their status had been revoked and urging them to leave the United States as soon as possible.

However, U.S. District Court Judge Allison Burroughs of Boston stated in her ruling that “when the defendants terminated the parole of the affected non-citizens without observing the process required by law and by their own regulations, they took action that was ‘not in accordance with law.'”

In a statement to NPR, the Department of Homeland Security characterized the ruling as “flagrant judicial activism” that undermines the President’s authority.

“Under federal law, DHS had full authority to revoke parole. The cancellation of these paroles constitutes a promise kept to the American people to secure our borders and protect our national security,” the statement asserted. The CBP One program was launched in 2023. The ruling applies to all migrants who entered the United States using the application between May 16, 2023, and January 19, 2025. Tuesday’s ruling reinstates the immigration status of those who arrived via CBP One and whose status had been revoked. This means that nearly 900,000 immigrants could be temporarily protected from deportation.
