Mujer se entrega a la policía tras horas de negociación por sus pitbulls sueltos. Es ex empleada del Departamento de Policía de Collierville

(LPL/FOX13) – Una mujer fue arrestada tras un enfrentamiento de varias horas con el equipo SWAT que comenzó el jueves por la noche en una casa de Collierville debido a lo que, según el jefe de policía, eran perros “feroces”.

El jefe de policía de Collierville, Dale Lane, informó que los agentes recibieron una llamada alrededor de las 7:40 p. m. del jueves a una dirección “conocida” en Dove Valley Road, sobre la presencia de pitbulls “sueltos” en la zona. Lane indicó que su departamento había visitado la casa “varias veces” en las últimas dos semanas.

Un vecino y varias fuentes informaron a FOX13 que la mujer detenida era ex empleada del departamento de policía de la ciudad.

Lane declaró que cuando los agentes llegaron el jueves por la noche, los perros intentaron atacarlos. En un momento dado, los agentes rociaron con gas pimienta a los perros, añadió.
El propietario de la casa y el dueño de los perros les dijeron a los agentes que ella estaba armada y cerraron la puerta de golpe, añadió Lane. Esto provocó un enfrentamiento con el equipo SWAT y la mujer, añadió. Lane dijo que el equipo SWAT negoció la entrega de la mujer durante la noche. Alrededor de las 7 a.m. del viernes, se entregó mientras las autoridades intentaban ejecutar una orden judicial, añadió Lane.

La mujer, que se cree tiene poco más de 60 años, fue acusada de imprudencia temeraria y resultó ilesa durante el enfrentamiento, según el jefe de policía. Los perros tampoco resultaron heridos, añadió.

“Así es como debe terminar”, dijo Lane. “Nadie sale herido y la gente recibe la ayuda que necesita”.

(LPL/FOX13) – A woman was arrested after an hours-long SWAT standoff that started Thursday night at a Collierville home over what the police chief said were “vicious” dogs.

Collierville Police Chief Dale Lane said officers were called around 7:40 p.m. Thursday to a “familiar” address on Dove Valley Road about “loose” pit bulls in the area. Lane said his department had been at the home “multiple times” in the past couple weeks.

A neighbor and multiple sources told FOX13 that the woman taken into custody was a former employee at the city’s police department.

Lane said that when officers arrived Thursday night, the dogs tried to attack them. At one point, the officers pepper-sprayed the dogs, he said.
The homeowner and owner of the dogs told the officers that she was armed and slammed the door, Lane said. That led to a SWAT standoff with the woman, he added.

Lane said the SWAT team negotiated for the woman’s surrender overnight. Around 7 a.m. Friday, she turned herself in as authorities tried to serve a warrant, Lane said.

The woman, believed to be in her early 60s, was charged with reckless endangerment and was not hurt during the standoff, the police chief said. The dogs were also not hurt, he added.

“This is how it’s supposed to end,” Lane said. “No one gets hurt and people get the help they need.”
