(LPL) – Un niño de 3 años que había sido reportado como desaparecido la mañana de este lunes fue encontrado muerto horas después en el centro de Memphis, en un caso que ahora es investigado como homicidio.

La víctima fue identificada como Joseph Martinez, quien, según la Policía de Memphis (MPD), fue sacado sin autorización de su casa, ubicada en la cuadra 3200 de Southbridge Street, en el vecindario de Parkway Village, por su padre biológico durante la madrugada.

De acuerdo con las autoridades, el padre regresó a la vivienda poco antes de las 8:00 de la mañana, pero lo hizo sin el menor. Tras recibir el reporte, la Policía emitió una alerta City Watch para localizar al niño y comenzó una búsqueda urgente.

Sin embargo, durante la investigación los detectives obtuvieron información que los llevó hasta la cuadra 100 de North Front Street, cerca del área de Wolf River Harbor, donde localizaron el cuerpo del pequeño. Poco después, la Policía canceló la alerta y confirmó el fallecimiento del menor.

El padre del niño fue detenido y permanece bajo custodia mientras continúa la investigación. Hasta el momento, las autoridades no han revelado cómo murió Joseph ni si el hombre enfrentará cargos relacionados con la muerte del menor.

Investigadores procesaron la escena durante varias horas y señalaron que el caso permanece bajo investigación activa. La Oficina del Médico Forense será la encargada de determinar la causa y la manera de la muerte.

3-year-old Hispanic boy abducted by his father this morning found dead

(LPL/EN) – A 3-year-old boy reported missing on Monday morning was found dead hours later in downtown Memphis, in a case now being investigated as a homicide.

The victim was identified as Joseph Martinez. According to the Memphis Police Department (MPD), his biological father had taken him without authorization during the early morning hours from their home in the 3200 block of Southbridge Street, in the Parkway Village neighborhood.

Authorities stated that the father returned to the home shortly before 8:00 a.m. but without the child. After receiving the report, police issued a “City Watch” alert to locate the boy and launched an urgent search.

However, during the investigation, detectives obtained information leading them to the 100 block of North Front Street, near Wolf River Harbor, where they found the child’s body. Shortly thereafter, police canceled the alert and confirmed the child’s death.

The boy’s father was detained and remains in custody while the investigation continues. Authorities have not yet disclosed how Joseph died or whether the man will face charges related to the child’s death.
