Un hombre muerto luego de tiroteo en un Wendy’s ubicado en la Winchester Road

(LPL) – Un hombre perdió la vida y otro fue detenido tras un tiroteo ocurrido la tarde del lunes en un restaurante Wendy’s ubicado en la Winchester Road, en el sureste de Memphis.

El incidente ocurrió alrededor de las 5:30 p.m., cuando una discusión entre tres personas, dos hombres y una mujer, escaló rápidamente a violencia física y, finalmente, a un disparo mortal. Un testigo, Ibian Parker, contó que observó la escena desde el otro lado del estacionamiento. “Es la primera vez que veo a alguien recibir un disparo. Estoy bastante afectado”, comentó e ltestigo a un medio local.

Según la Policía de Memphis, Darelle Bowers fue acusado de asesinato en primer grado por su presunta responsabilidad en el homicidio. Las autoridades señalaron que al menos dos de los involucrados trabajaban en el establecimiento, incluido el presunto tirador, quien fue arrestado en el lugar. Aún no se ha confirmado si la víctima también era empleado del restaurante.

Tras el tiroteo, una docena de patrullas rodeó el área y la policía acordonó gran parte del centro comercial cercano mientras realizaban las investigaciones. El teniente coronel Gary Badgett indicó que el caso parece tratarse de un conflicto doméstico que terminó de forma trágica.

Testigos dijeron que, tras disparar, el sospechoso entró al local y luego salió para intentar reanimar a la víctima con maniobras de resucitación cardiopulmonar (RCP). La víctima fue trasladada de urgencia al hospital Methodist Germantown, donde fue declarada muerta poco después. “Al principio gritaba, pero al cabo de un minuto dejó de moverse”, relató Parker.

La franquicia de Wendy’s emitió un comunicado expresando su pesar por lo sucedido. Aunque no ofreció detalles por tratarse de una investigación activa, reiteró su política de cero tolerancia hacia las armas y aseguró que sus empleados reciben capacitación en resolución de conflictos.

La investigación continúa y aún no se han revelado más detalles oficiales del caso.

One man dead after shooting at a Wendy’s at Winchester Road

(LPL) – A man is dead and another has been taken into custody following a shooting Monday evening at a Wendy’s restaurant at Winchester Raod, in Southeast Memphis.

The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. when an argument between three people — two men and a woman — quickly escalated into a physical fight and ultimately ended in a fatal gunshot. A witness, Ibian Parker, said he watched the events unfold from across the parking lot. “It’s the first time I’ve ever seen someone get shot. I’m pretty shaken,” he said to local media.

According to Memphis police, Darelle Bowers has been charged with first-degree murder in connection to the homicide. Authorities confirmed that at least two of the people involved worked at the restaurant, including the suspected shooter, who was arrested at the scene. It’s still unclear whether the man who was shot was also an employee.

Following the shooting, around a dozen patrol cars surrounded the area, and police cordoned off a large section of the nearby shopping center as part of the investigation. Lt. Col. Gary Badgett said the incident appeared to stem from a domestic dispute that turned deadly.

Witnesses reported that after firing the shot, the suspect went back into the restaurant, then returned outside and attempted CPR on the victim. The man who was shot was rushed to Methodist Germantown Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. “At first, he was screaming,” Parker recalled. “But after a minute, he stopped moving.”

The Wendy’s franchise issued a statement expressing deep sadness over the incident. While it declined to comment on the ongoing investigation, it reiterated its zero-tolerance policy regarding weapons and noted that employees receive de-escalation training.

The investigation remains active, and further details have yet to be released.
