Niña de 9 años resulta herida en tiroteo; autoridades investigan ataque a vivienda en el área de Richwood

(LPL) – La Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Shelby (SCSO) investiga un tiroteo ocurrido la madrugada del lunes que dejó a una menor de 9 años herida, luego de que un individuo disparara múltiples veces contra una vivienda en el área de Richwood.

De acuerdo con las autoridades, el incidente se reportó alrededor de la 1:25 a.m. en una casa ubicada sobre Glenroy Drive. Al llegar al lugar, los agentes determinaron que un sospechoso, aún no identificado, había efectuado varios disparos contra la vivienda, impactando a la menor mientras se encontraba dentro.

Equipos de emergencia del Departamento de Bomberos del Condado de Shelby trasladaron a la niña al hospital Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, donde fue atendida por sus heridas. Las autoridades indicaron que la menor se encuentra fuera de peligro y se espera que se recupere.

Según familiares, la niña estaba dormida en su cama cuando comenzaron los disparos. Testigos en la escena observaron al menos dos impactos de bala en la ventana de su habitación.

La abuela de la menor, visiblemente afectada, expresó su preocupación por la seguridad en la comunidad, señalando que nunca había vivido una situación similar en los años que lleva residiendo en el vecindario. “Por favor mantengan a sus hijos cerca… yo no voy a volver a dormir sin ella, nunca más”, dijo.

Hasta el momento, no se han revelado detalles sobre el sospechoso ni el posible motivo del ataque. La investigación continúa abierta.

9-year-old girl injured in shooting; authorities investigate home targeted in Richwood area

(LPL) – The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) is investigating an early Monday morning shooting that left a 9-year-old girl injured after a gunman fired multiple shots into a home in the Richwood area.

According to authorities, the incident was reported around 1:25 a.m. at a residence on Glenroy Drive. Deputies arrived to find that an unidentified suspect had fired several rounds into the home, striking the child while she was inside.

Shelby County Fire personnel transported the girl to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, where she was treated. Officials said the child is in non-critical condition and is expected to recover.

Family members said the girl was asleep in her bed when the gunfire erupted. At the scene, at least two bullet holes were visible in the bedroom window.

The child’s grandmother, shaken by the incident, expressed concern about safety in the neighborhood, saying she had never experienced something like this before. “Please keep your kids close… I will never sleep without her again,” she said.

No information about the suspect or a possible motive has been released. The investigation remains ongoing.
