Una mujer fue arrestada y acusada de torturar y asesinar al hijo de su novio, que tenía apenas de tres años de edad

(LPL) – Una mujer de 29 años, Dominica Mosby, fue detenida en el condado de Shelby acusada de torturar y causar la muerte de Kevin Horton, un niño de tres años que estaba bajo su cuidado. Mosby, pareja del padre del menor, enfrenta cargos de asesinato en primer grado, abuso agravado y negligencia agravada.

La policía acudió a una casa en la cuadra 4200 de Beacon Hills Road, donde el padre del niño encontró al pequeño inconsciente sobre una cama. Horton fue declarado muerto en la escena.

En un inicio, Mosby dijo que el niño no se sentía bien y había estado vomitando antes de acostarlo. Sin embargo, investigadores de homicidios indicaron que más tarde confesó haber apagado un cigarrillo en la oreja del menor y haber usado un encendedor para quemarlo en el área genital. También admitió haberlo pisado en el abdomen con el tacón de su bota y golpearlo en el torso y el pecho porque el pequeño no se quedaba acostado.

El médico forense determinó que la muerte fue un homicidio y señaló lesiones internas graves, como un hígado lacerado, hemorragia interna y múltiples moretones y quemaduras.

La tía del niño declaró que el menor solía quedarse en su casa por varios días y que había notado heridas previas que no coincidían con juegos típicos de un niño. Entre ellas mencionó un labio lastimado, un moretón en la mejilla derecha y un rasguño en la izquierda.

(LPL) – A 29-year-old woman, Dominica Mosby, has been taken into custody in Shelby County, accused of torturing and causing the death of Kevin Horton, a three-year-old boy who was in her care. Mosby, the girlfriend of the child’s father, is facing charges of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated child neglect.

Police responded to a home in the 4200 block of Beacon Hills Road, where the child’s father found him unresponsive on a bed. Horton was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mosby initially told officers that the boy was not feeling well and had been vomiting before she put him down to rest. However, homicide investigators said she later admitted to putting out a cigarette in the child’s ear and using a lighter to burn him in the genital area. She also confessed to stomping on his abdomen with the heel of her boot and hitting him on the torso and chest because he would not lie down.

The medical examiner ruled the death a homicide, noting severe internal injuries including a lacerated liver, internal bleeding, multiple bruises, and burns.

The child’s aunt told investigators that the boy often stayed at her home for several days at a time and that she had noticed previous injuries that were not consistent with normal childhood play. She recalled a cut on his lip, a bruise on his right cheek, and a scratch on his left cheek.
