(LPL) – Una persecución policiaca en Arkansas terminó con un vehículo volcado en una zanja y un niño de tres años saliendo ileso del accidente, en un caso que ha generado atención luego de que se difundiera el video del momento.

De acuerdo con la Policía Estatal de Arkansas, el incidente ocurrió el pasado 2 de mayo en la zona rural de Joiner, Arkansas, cuando un oficial intentó detener a un Dodge Charger por exceso de velocidad sobre la autopista 118. Sin embargo, la conductora ignoró las luces de emergencia y continuó manejando, lo que provocó una persecución.

Las autoridades señalaron que el trooper realizó una maniobra PIT —utilizada para obligar a detener un vehículo en fuga— causando que el automóvil perdiera el control, se saliera de la carretera y terminara volcado sobre su techo en una zanja.

Video difundido posteriormente muestra al pequeño saliendo por una de las puertas del vehículo accidentado mientras el oficial le pedía que caminara hacia él para ponerlo a salvo. Minutos después, la madre también salió del automóvil. Ambos fueron evaluados médicamente y no sufrieron heridas graves.

La conductora fue identificada como Thalia Jones, de 23 años. Según el reporte policial, enfrenta cargos por manejo imprudente, exceso de velocidad, conducir con licencia suspendida, poner en peligro a un menor y uso no autorizado de un vehículo ajeno para cometer un delito. Las autoridades dijeron que el automóvil pertenecía al novio de la mujer.

El menor quedó bajo el cuidado de otro adulto en la escena, mientras que el caso también fue referido a la línea estatal de abuso infantil para una investigación adicional.

According to the Arkansas State Police, the incident occurred on May 2 in the rural area of ​​Joiner, Arkansas, when an officer attempted to pull over a Dodge Charger for speeding on Highway 118. However, the driver ignored the emergency lights and continued driving, triggering a pursuit.

Authorities stated that the trooper executed a PIT maneuver—a technique used to force a fleeing vehicle to stop—causing the car to lose control, veer off the road, and come to rest upside down in a ditch.

Video footage released subsequently shows the young boy climbing out of one of the doors of the wrecked vehicle as the officer urged him to walk toward him to be brought to safety. Minutes later, the mother also exited the car. Both were medically evaluated and sustained no serious injuries.

The driver was identified as Thalia Jones, 23. According to the police report, she faces charges including reckless driving, speeding, driving with a suspended license, endangering a minor, and unauthorized use of another person’s vehicle to commit a crime. Authorities noted that the car belonged to the woman’s boyfriend.

The child was placed in the care of another adult at the scene, while the case was also referred to the state child abuse hotline for further investigation.
