Five people accused of kidnapping a man and robbing him of a PlayStation and cash near the airport

(LPL) – Five individuals have been arrested and charged in connection with the kidnapping and robbery of a man, from whom they took $900 in cash, a cell phone, and a PlayStation console near the Memphis airport.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, November 3, in the 2900 block of Airways Boulevard, where officers from the Memphis Police Department (MPD) responded to a report of a robbery.

According to the police report, the victim stated that a woman—later identified as 28-year-old Zakeria Winston—had asked him to repair her 2015 Nissan Altima, and they agreed to meet at an apartment complex.

While he was waiting, a man approached and struck him in the head with a handgun. Shortly thereafter, Winston and three other men rushed toward him and forced him into his room, where they took $900, a PlayStation console, and his cell phone before fleeing.

Surveillance footage helped identify two vehicles linked to the incident: a Mercedes-Benz and the Nissan Altima. The footage showed several men forcing the victim into his room and subsequently fleeing in both vehicles.

Authorities located the vehicles in the Austin Peay area. The Tennessee Highway Patrol conducted a traffic stop on the Nissan, identifying Winston and her brother, 20-year-old Malik Williams. Both were taken into custody, and officers discovered a firearm inside the vehicle.

Investigators later located the Mercedes at a residence in the 4000 block of Otter Drive, where they arrested three additional suspects.

Police recovered a PlayStation console and two firearms from the Mercedes. They also seized another weapon and more than 100 rounds of ammunition at a home on Cedar. The five defendants were identified as Geno Elion, 22; Zakeria Winston, 28; Corderro Wright, 19; Malik Williams, 20; and Alexander Ndon-Blue, 22.

Elion, Winston, Wright, and Ndon-Blue face charges related to aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping, while Williams also faces accusations of marijuana possession and tampering with or fabricating evidence.

The five suspects are scheduled to appear in court this Thursday.
