Caos en el Walmart de Bartlett luego de un tiroteo la tarde de este jueves: hay una persona detenida

(LPL) – Un tiroteo se registró la tarde del jueves en un Walmart de Bartlett, según informó el Departamento de Policía de Bartlett (BPD).

Los oficiales respondieron rápidamente a la tienda, ubicada en el 8400 de la Carretera 64, tras recibir reportes del incidente alrededor de las 2:30 p. m. Una persona fue detenida en el lugar sin que se reportaran más enfrentamientos.

A las 2:50 p. m., la policía confirmó que la escena estaba bajo control y que no existía amenaza para el público. Las autoridades indicaron que el sospechoso actuó solo.

Aunque el BPD no ofreció detalles inmediatos sobre las circunstancias del tiroteo, señalaron que la investigación continúa y que se proporcionará más información a medida que avance el proceso.

“Pedimos al público que evite la zona para permitir que las fuerzas del orden y el personal de emergencia realicen su trabajo. Agradecemos a la comunidad su cooperación y comprensión”, se publicó en las redes sociales oficiales del departamento.

Según testigos, una persona dentro de la tienda escuchó dos detonaciones seguidas de una breve pausa, y luego cuatro o cinco disparos más, aparentemente desde la parte trasera del establecimiento. De inmediato, clientes comenzaron a correr mientras alguien gritaba “¡Disparan!”. El personal de seguridad evacuó a los presentes y agentes de policía ingresaron al edificio armados.

Minutos después, los oficiales escoltaron a un hombre que vestía un chaleco de Walmart fuera del lugar. No se confirmó si se trataba de un sospechoso o una posible víctima.

Chaos at the Bartlett Walmart after a shooting Thursday afternoon: one person in custody

(LPL) – A shooting occurred Thursday afternoon at a Walmart in Bartlett, according to the Bartlett Police Department (BPD).

Officers quickly responded to the store, located at 8400 Highway 64, after receiving reports of the incident around 2:30 p.m. One person was arrested at the scene, with no further confrontation reported.

At 2:50 p.m., police confirmed the scene was under control and there was no threat to the public. Authorities indicated the suspect acted alone.

Although the BPD did not immediately provide details on the circumstances of the shooting, they noted that the investigation is ongoing and more information will be provided as the process progresses.

“We ask the public to avoid the area to allow law enforcement and emergency personnel to conduct their work. We thank the community for their cooperation and understanding,” the department’s official social media post stated.

According to witnesses, a person inside the store heard two gunshots followed by a brief pause, then four or five more gunshots, apparently from the rear of the store. Customers immediately began running while someone shouted “Shoot!” Security personnel evacuated the crowd, and armed police officers entered the building.

Minutes later, officers escorted a man wearing a Walmart vest from the store. It was not confirmed whether he was a suspect or a possible victim.
