Conductor de SUV es atropellado por tren tras posible detención policial en cruce de Bartlett

(LPL/WREG) – Un testigo declaró que antes de que un tren chocara contra una camioneta, un policía estatal pudo haber detenido a su conductor y que el vehículo aún se encontraba sobre las vías antes del impacto.

Un vehículo fue impactado por un tren el miércoles por la mañana en Stage Road, Bartlett, según informó un concejal de Bartlett.

Las fotos muestran una camioneta dañada en la intersección, con un tren de carga detenido sobre las vías. Policías estatales se encuentran en el lugar.

Kevin Quinn informó en Facebook alrededor de las 11:30 a. m. que un tren chocó contra un automóvil en Stage Road, cerca del bulevar Bartlett.
Añadió que el conductor del vehículo fue trasladado a un hospital.

La Policía de Bartlett no ha confirmado esa información, pero sí advirtió a los conductores que evitaran la intersección debido a un accidente. El cruce se reabrió poco después.
La Patrulla de Carreteras de Tennessee (THP) está manejando el incidente. La THP indicó que proporcionaría información actualizada más adelante.

Esto ocurre cerca del mismo lugar donde una limusina que acompañaba a una familia a un funeral fue impactada por un tren en abril. El conductor de la limusina y los acompañantes del funeral fueron citados en ese incidente.
Testigos afirman que momentos antes de que un tren chocara contra una camioneta, la conductora pudo haber sido detenida por un policía estatal, y que el vehículo aún estaba sobre las vías antes del impacto.

“No puedo creer que esté a punto de ver esto, porque pasó un buen rato pensando que estaba bien, que todavía podía moverse, pero no pasaba”, dijo Jordan Pearce, otro testigo.
Pearce dice que estaba en un semáforo en rojo cuando vio un tren chocar contra el vehículo.

“No sé cuánto tiempo hacía que se había acercado a la ventana, pero lo vi caminar de regreso a su auto, y de regreso el tren tocó la bocina y se podía ver venir, y él hizo la señal de “vamos, vamos, vamos”, dijo Pearce.

Según el testigo, parecía haber confusión mientras la mujer intentaba escapar.

Dice que al principio parecía que tenía problemas para retroceder, pero luego se arrastró hacia las vías y se detuvo.

SUV driver hit by train after possible trooper stop at Bartlett crossing

(LPL/WREG) – A witness said that before a train smacked into an SUV, a driver may have been pulled over by a state trooper, and that the vehicle was still on the tracks before being hit.

A vehicle was struck by a train Wednesday morning along Stage Road in Bartlett, a Bartlett alderman said.

Photos show a damaged SUV in the intersection, with a freight train stopped on the tracks. State troopers are on the scene.

Kevin Quinn reported on Facebook around 11:30 a.m. that a train collided with a car at Stage Road near Bartlett Boulevard.
He said the driver of the vehicle was taken to a hospital.

Bartlett Police have not confirmed that information, but did warn drivers to avoid the intersection due to a wreck. The crossing was reopened a short time later.
Tennessee Highway Patrol is handling the incident. THP said it would provide an update later.

This is near the same location where a limousine escorting a family to a funeral was hit by a train in April. The limo driver and funeral escorts were cited in that incident.
Witnesses say moments before a train smacked into an SUV, a female driver may have been pulled over by a state trooper, and that the vehicle was still on the tracks before being hit.

“I can not believe I am about to see this happen because there was a good amount of time like this is okay, she can still move you know, but like it kept not happening,” said Jordan Pearce, witness.
Jordan Pearce says he was at a red light when he saw a train slam into the vehicle.

“I don’t know how recently he had gone up to the window, but I saw him walk back to his car, and on the way back the train blew a horn and you can see it coming and he like signaled like go, go, go,” said Pearce.

According to Pearce, there seemed to be confusion as the woman tried to get out of harm’s way.

He says at first it seemed she had trouble backing up, but then she crept back forward onto the tracks and stopped.
