Four teenagers arrested following fights at the Delta Fair

(LPL) – Four teenagers were arrested after several fights broke out among groups of unsupervised minors at the Delta Fair, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) reported.

The incidents occurred on Saturday and led to a temporary suspension of fair activities while deputies intervened to control the situation and ensure the safety of attendees.

According to the SCSO, one of the teenagers was charged with resisting official detention, while the other three face charges of simple assault. Authorities did not provide the ages or identities of the four minors in the initial report.

The presence of unsupervised youth groups sparked the confrontations within the fairgrounds, prompting sheriff’s deputies to work to control the incidents and secure the premises.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) and agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) also assisted local authorities, primarily with traffic control and parking lot security.

The SCSO stated that deputies successfully re-secured the fairgrounds and that, after the incidents were brought under control, the Delta Fair was able to close at its scheduled time.

Authorities did not report any injuries resulting from the fights in the information published by Action News 5, nor did they indicate any broader threat to the public.

The investigation into the incidents is ongoing, and the four teenagers will face the corresponding charges. As they are minors, their cases will be subject to the applicable provisions of the Tennessee juvenile justice system.
