Discusión por un videojuego termina con dos heridos de bala en Whitehaven

(LPL) – Lo que comenzó como una discusión por un videojuego terminó en violencia armada el fin de semana en el área de Whitehaven, dejando a dos personas heridas de bala, según informó el Departamento de Policía de Memphis (MPD).

El incidente ocurrió la noche del sábado en los apartamentos Oakwood Meadows. De acuerdo con la investigación preliminar, uno de los heridos relató a los agentes que su amigo se molestó tras perder una partida de videojuego y sacó un arma de fuego. Se produjo un forcejeo por el arma, la cual se disparó durante la pelea e hirió a dos personas.

La policía indicó que un hombre fue encontrado con una herida de bala detrás del edificio de apartamentos, mientras que otra persona herida fue trasladada a Methodist South. El sospechoso huyó del lugar a pie y hasta el momento no ha sido detenido.

Mientras los oficiales atendían esa escena, un agente escuchó disparos cerca de la intersección de East Shelby Drive y Airways Boulevard. Al llegar, encontraron a un hombre con una herida de bala. La víctima dijo que caminaba por East Shelby Drive hacia Airways cuando se realizaron disparos y que cree haber quedado atrapado en el fuego cruzado entre dos hombres que disparaban contra otra persona en un estacionamiento cercano.

Inicialmente, la policía informó que dos personas habían sido baleadas y que investigaban si ambos hechos estaban relacionados. Argument over video game leaves two people shot in Whitehaven

(LPL) – What began as an argument over a video game turned into gun violence over the weekend in the Whitehaven area, leaving two people wounded, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).

The incident happened Saturday night at the Oakwood Meadows Apartments. According to the preliminary investigation, one of the victims told officers that his friend became upset after losing a video game and pulled out a gun. A struggle over the weapon followed, and it discharged during the confrontation, striking two people.

Police said one man was found with a gunshot wound behind the apartment building, while another injured person was taken to Methodist South. The suspect fled the scene on foot and has not been detained.

While officers were responding to that scene, an officer heard gunfire near the intersection of East Shelby Drive and Airways Boulevard. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim told officers he was walking along East Shelby Drive toward Airways when shots were fired and believes he was caught in the crossfire between two men who were shooting at another individual in a nearby parking lot.

Police initially reported that two people had been shot and were working to determine whether the incidents were connected. They later confirmed the shooting on Shelby Drive was not related to the apartment complex shooting, where the violence stemmed from an argument over a video game.
