(LPL/FOX13) – Un exagente penitenciario del condado de Dyer que intentó introducir drogas de contrabando en la cárcel fue sentenciado a 10 años de prisión federal, informó la oficina del sheriff.

Según la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Dyer (DCSO), Tyrell Wallace fue sentenciado el lunes, y cumplirá cinco años de libertad condicional tras su liberación.

La oficina del sheriff informó que Wallace fue sorprendido en octubre de 2024 intentando introducir metanfetamina, marihuana, fentanilo, crack y un teléfono celular en la cárcel del condado de Dyer.

“Estos hechos se descubrieron tras una investigación que generó serias preocupaciones sobre la integridad de Wallace, lo que llevó a los investigadores a interrogar y arrestar al exagente penitenciario cuando se presentaba a su turno de noche”, declaró la DCSO en un comunicado.

La oficina del sheriff también indicó que Wallace portaba una pistola cargada y 40 cartuchos de munición mientras transportaba las drogas, “lo que subraya la gravedad de sus delitos y los riesgos que representaba para la comunidad y sus compañeros”.

Ex-corrections officer caught smuggling drugs into Dyer County jail sentenced to prison

(LPL/FOX) – A former corrections officer in Dyer County who attempted to smuggle drugs into the jail was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison, the sheriff’s office said.

According to the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO), Tyrell Wallace was sentenced Monday — adding that he will serve five years of probation following his release from prison.

The sheriff’s office said Wallace was caught in October 2024 trying to smuggle meth, marijuana, fentanyl, crack and a cell phone into the Dyer County jail.

“These actions were discovered after an investigation was conducted that raised alarming concerns about Wallace’s integrity, which prompted investigators to question and arrest the former correctional officer as he reported to his night shift duties,” DCSO said in a statement.

The sheriff’s office also said Wallace had a loaded handgun and 40 rounds of ammunition while he was transporting the drugs — “highlighting the severity of his offenses and the risks posed to the community and his colleagues.”
