La cifra de muertos en Venezuela sube a 3.342, con 16.840 heridos por los terremotos

(LPL/CNN) – La cifra de muertos por los terremotos en Venezuela subió este domingo a 3.342, según informó el Gobierno, mientras que el número de heridos asciende a 16.740.

El balance difundido por el titular de la Asamblea Nacional, Jorge Rodríguez, representa un aumento de 388 víctimas fatales con respecto al informe del sábado. El Gobierno continúa sin ofrecer un estimado oficial sobre desaparecidos, que según cálculos de organizaciones civiles locales e internacionales ascendería a decenas de miles.
El parte oficial consigna también que hay 17.345 personas sin vivienda, ya sea porque los inmuebles colapsaron o quedaron dañados, o porque todavía está bajo evaluación su habitabilidad. Para atender esa situación, hay 79 campamentos transitorios, según informó Rodríguez.
A su vez, 6.462 personas han sido rescatadas y 23.820 pacientes fueron atendidos por los efectos del sismo.

La presidenta encargada, Delcy Rodríguez, participó este domingo en una ceremonia de graduación conjunta de militares, en el aniversario del Día de la Independencia de Venezuela.
Allí, Rodríguez reivindicó el accionar de la Fuerza Armada y rechazó las críticas a los uniformados. “Han querido atacar a nuestra Fuerza Armada denigrándola, atacándola. Los hemos visto ayudando al pueblo, salvando vidas, sacando cuerpos”, expresó.

La mandataria encargada informó también que ordenó al Ministerio de Defensa la creación de una unidad de tarea especial de emergencia para atender la crisis “ante desastres de esta naturaleza”, que estará liderada por el general de brigada Pabón Castellanos.

Además, agradeció a las brigadas internacionales y agregó que los rescatistas venezolanos serán condecorados.

(LPL/CNN) – The death toll from the earthquakes in Venezuela rose to 3,342 on Sunday, according to the government, while the number of injured stands at 16,740.

The figures released by National Assembly President Jorge Rodríguez represent an increase of 388 fatalities compared to Saturday’s report. The government has yet to provide an official estimate regarding missing persons—a figure that local and international civil organizations calculate could reach the tens of thousands.
The official report also notes that 17,345 people are without housing, whether due to building collapses, structural damage, or ongoing assessments of habitability. Rodríguez stated that 79 temporary camps have been set up to address this situation.
Additionally, 6,462 people have been rescued, and 23,820 patients have received medical attention for earthquake-related issues.

Acting President Delcy Rodríguez attended a joint military graduation ceremony on Sunday, coinciding with the anniversary of Venezuela’s Independence Day.
At the event, Rodríguez defended the actions of the Armed Forces and rejected criticism directed at military personnel. “There have been attempts to attack our Armed Forces by denigrating and assailing them. We have seen them helping the people, saving lives, and recovering bodies,” she said.

The acting leader also announced that she had ordered the Ministry of Defense to create a special emergency task force to manage the crisis “in the face of disasters of this nature,” to be led by Brigadier General Pabón Castellanos.

Furthermore, she expressed gratitude to international brigades and added that Venezuelan rescue workers would be honored with awards.
