(LPL/EN) – El presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, publicó una encuesta en redes sociales para elegir entre los nombres Servicio de Control de Inmigración y Aduanas (ICE, que significa “hielo” en inglés) y Servicio Nacional de Control de Inmigración y Aduanas (NICE, “amable” en inglés). De esta forma propone que los ciudadanos decidan qué término utilizar para identificar al organismo de seguridad.

“Si tuvieran que decir ‘hemos ido hoy a unas instalaciones NICE (amables)’, tendríamos un nombre mucho más prestigioso simplemente añadiendo una N de Nacional a ICE”, indicó Trump. Además, mencionó que el cambio “dejaría totalmente descolocados a los reporteros y periodistas fraudulentos, deshonestos y antipatriotas”.

En este sentido, resaltó que las personas tendrían que referirse a los funcionarios con el término NICE. “Agentes NICE (amables) han deportado a un violento narcotraficante. Se van a volver muy locos. No van a saber ni cómo llevarlo”, manifestó.
A juicio del mandatario, este término “le encanta a todo el mundo”. Sin embargo, mencionó que Tom Homan le dijo que a los agentes “no les gusta tanto como al resto de la población”. Por esta razón, pidió votar en la encuesta para saber si se realiza el cambio de nombre o no.

Trump consideró que el ICE “ha sido maltratado por los medios de comunicación mentirosos a niveles jamás vistos”. Ante esto, los defendió al señalar que son “grandes patriotas” que “trabajan duro y hacen un trabajo fantástico en un entorno muy hostil”. Además, atribuyó esa hostilidad a los demócratas y los medios de comunicación.

In doing so, he proposed letting citizens decide which term to use to identify the security agency.

“If you had to say, ‘We went to a NICE facility today,’ we would have a much more prestigious name simply by adding an ‘N’ for National to ICE,” Trump noted. He also mentioned that the change “would totally throw off the fraudulent, dishonest, and unpatriotic reporters and journalists.”

In this regard, he highlighted that people would have to refer to the officers using the term NICE. “‘NICE agents have deported a violent drug trafficker.’ They’re going to go crazy. They won’t even know how to handle it,” he stated.
In the president’s view, “everyone loves” this term. However, he mentioned that Tom Homan told him the agents “don’t like it as much as the rest of the population does.” For this reason, he asked people to vote in the poll to determine whether or not the name change should take place.

Trump opined that ICE “has been mistreated by the lying media like never before.” He defended the agency, noting that its members are “great patriots” who “work hard and do a fantastic job in a very hostile environment.” Furthermore, he attributed that hostility to the Democrats and the media.
