Persecución policial que comenzó en East Memphis dejó varios heridos y tres detenidos

(LPL) – Tres personas fueron arrestadas la madrugada de este lunes luego de una persecución policial que inició en East Memphis y terminó al norte de la ciudad, dejando varios agentes y sospechosos con lesiones.

De acuerdo con el Departamento de Policía de Memphis (MPD), el incidente comenzó alrededor de las 3:55 a.m., cuando oficiales respondieron a un reporte de una persona sospechosa en el Hilton Hotel, ubicado sobre Ridge Lake Boulevard.

Al llegar, los agentes fueron informados de que los ocupantes de un sedán negro presuntamente estaban intentando cometer robos dentro de vehículos estacionados en el lugar. Cuando los oficiales localizaron el automóvil, el conductor embistió intencionalmente una patrulla, lo que dio inicio a una persecución.

Durante la huida, el vehículo sospechoso chocó contra una segunda patrulla antes de continuar su marcha. La persecución concluyó cerca de la intersección de Thomas Street y Corrine Avenue, cuando el automóvil perdió una llanta y quedó inutilizado.

Tras detenerse, tres hombres y una mujer descendieron del vehículo e intentaron escapar corriendo. La policía logró detener a tres de los cuatro sospechosos, mientras continúa la investigación sobre el caso.

Como resultado del incidente, una mujer y uno de los hombres sospechosos fueron trasladados a un hospital con lesiones que no ponen en riesgo sus vidas. Además, un oficial de la Policía de Memphis también fue hospitalizado con heridas leves, mientras que otros tres agentes recibieron atención médica en el lugar de los hechos.

Police chase starting in East Memphis leaves several injured and three arrested

(LPL) – Three people were arrested early Monday morning following a police chase that began in East Memphis and ended in the northern part of the city, leaving several officers and suspects injured.

According to the Memphis Police Department (MPD), the incident began around 3:55 a.m. when officers responded to a report of a suspicious person at the Hilton Hotel on Ridge Lake Boulevard.

Upon arrival, officers were informed that the occupants of a black sedan were allegedly attempting to break into vehicles parked at the location. When officers located the car, the driver intentionally rammed a patrol vehicle, sparking a chase.

During the flight, the suspect vehicle struck a second patrol car before continuing on. The pursuit ended near the intersection of Thomas Street and Corrine Avenue when the car lost a tire and became disabled.

After stopping, three men and a woman got out of the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Police managed to apprehend three of the four suspects, and the investigation into the case is ongoing.

As a result of the incident, a woman and one of the male suspects were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Additionally, a Memphis police officer was hospitalized with minor injuries, while three other officers received medical attention at the scene.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of those arrested or the charges they will face. The investigation continues to clarify all details regarding the chase and the alleged attempted thefts that prompted the police response.
