ACTUALIZACIÓN: Hombre que disparó a un intruso en un apartamento de East Memphis es acusado de homicidio involuntario

(LPL/WREG) – Un hombre que, según la policía, disparó varias veces contra un intruso que irrumpió en su apartamento en East Memphis la madrugada del jueves, ha sido acusado de homicidio involuntario.
Marques Griffin, de 30 años, fue ingresado en la cárcel del condado de Shelby horas después del tiroteo en la cuadra 1200 de Robin Hood Lane.
Alrededor de las 3:30 a. m., los agentes respondieron a una llamada por allanamiento de morada en la residencia y encontraron a un hombre tendido en un patio fuera del apartamento con múltiples heridas de bala. Posteriormente, falleció en el hospital.

Según la declaración jurada, Griffin le dijo a la policía que disparó tres veces contra el intruso después de que este saliera corriendo de su apartamento.
Griffin declaró que se despertó por ruidos en su apartamento, tomó un arma que tenía debajo de la almohada y fue a la sala de estar.

Griffin dijo que vio a un hombre en el suelo de su sala de estar, debajo de una ventana abierta. Dijo que el hombre exclamó: “No sabía que vivía alguien aquí”, y salió corriendo por la puerta principal.
Griffin dijo que siguió al hombre y le disparó.
Dijo que el hombre repitió “Está bien, está bien, está bien” después de caer. Griffin dijo que, tras dispararle, colocó el arma sobre su cama y llamó a la policía. Los agentes recuperaron una pistola Glock 45.

La identidad del hombre fallecido aún no ha sido revelada.

UPDATE: Man who shot intruder at East Memphis apartment charged with manslaughter

(LPL/WREG) – A man police say fired several shots at an intruder who broke into his East Memphis apartment early Thursday morning has been charged with voluntary manslaughter.
Marques Griffin, 30, was booked in the Shelby County Jail hours after the shooting in the 1200 block of Robin Hood Lane.
At around 3:30 a.m., officers responded to a prowler call at the residence and found a man lying in a courtyard area outside the apartment suffering from multiple gunshots. He later died at the hospital.

According to the affidavit of complaint, Griffin told police he fired three shots at the intruder after he ran out of his apartment.
Griffin said that he woke up to noise in his apartment, grabbed a gun from under his pillow, and went to his living room.

Griffin said he saw a man on the floor of his living room under an open window. He said the man stated, “I didn’t know anyone lived here,” and ran out the front door.
Griffin said he followed the man out the door and fired the shots.
He said the man said, “Okay, okay, okay” after he fell. Griffin said that after he shot the man, he placed the gun on his bed and called the police. Officers recovered a Glock 45.

The man who was killed has not been identified.
