Agente de ICE le disparó fatalmente a un inmigrante mexicano en Houston durante una detención

(LPL/TMDO) – – El Departamento de Seguridad Nacional (DHS) informó que una persona falleció durante un operativo para arrestar a un inmigrante indocumentado en Houston, Texas, después de que un agente del Servicio de Inmigración y Control de Aduanas (ICE) disparara su arma de fuego.

En un comunicado enviado a KPRC, un vocero del DHS afirmó que “el 7 de julio de 2026, aproximadamente a las 6:50 am (hora central), agentes de ICE intentaron detener un vehículo como parte de una operación de control específica para arrestar a un extranjero ilegal”.

El comunicado precisó que “el conductor del vehículo, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo —un extranjero en situación irregular procedente de México— intentó evadir el arresto. Según la información que estamos recibiendo, embistió un vehículo de ICE, se negó a acatar múltiples órdenes verbales y utilizó su vehículo como arma en un intento por atropellar a un agente de ICE, lo que llevó a nuestro agente a disparar su arma en defensa propia”.

“El conductor resultó herido y se contactó de inmediato a los servicios de emergencia. El conductor fue trasladado al hospital, donde falleció a causa de sus lesiones. El FBI está a cargo de la investigación. The statement noted that “the driver of the vehicle, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo—an undocumented foreign national from Mexico—attempted to evade arrest. According to information we are receiving, he rammed an ICE vehicle, refused to comply with multiple verbal commands, and used his vehicle as a weapon in an attempt to run over an ICE agent, prompting our agent to fire their weapon in self-defense.”

“The driver was wounded, and emergency services were contacted immediately. The driver was transported to the hospital, where he died from his injuries. The FBI is leading the investigation and is on the scene,” the text stated.
