Autoridades de Irán piden dinero a las familias para entregar los cuerpos de manifestantes fallecidos

(LPL/EN) – Familias de manifestantes muertos en las recientes protestas en Irán han denunciado que las autoridades de ese país exigen grandes sumas de dinero para entregar los cuerpos para su entierro, informa este viernes la cadena pública británica BBC.
BBC Persian, el servicio en persa de la emisora, recogió testimonios que señalan que, en algunos lugares, los cadáveres en hospitales y funerarias no se entregan a los familiares a menos que paguen sumas que se han cifrado entre 700 millones y 1.000 millones de tomán (unos 5.000 a 7.000 dólares).
El servicio apunta que en muchos casos los salarios mensuales de los trabajadores son inferiores a 100 dólares, lo que hace imposible afrontar esos pagos.

Según las fuentes de la cadena, en ocasiones el personal hospitalario alerta a los parientes con antelación “para que retiren los cuerpos antes de que las fuerzas de seguridad intenten cobrar”.
BBC Persian también recibió denuncias de que en la morgue Behesht-e Zahra en Teherán las autoridades ofrecían liberar cuerpos sin coste si los parientes decían que pertenecían a la milicia Basij -asociada al Cuerpo de la Guardia Revolucionaria Islámica- y que murieron como mártires a manos de los manifestantes.

Un familiar relató a la BBC que también en la capital “varias familias, temiendo que las autoridades pudieran retener o enterrar los cuerpos sin su conocimiento, forzaron la puerta de la morgue y sacaron los cadáveres de las ambulancias, y luego los custodiaron en el patio del hospital hasta poder transportarlos con ambulancias privadas”.
Las protestas antigubernamentales que tienen lugar en Irán desde el pasado 28 de diciembre se han saldado con la vida de unas 3.428 personas, según cifras de organizaciones como Ihrngo, así como miles de personas heridas y detenidas.

Iranian Authorities Demand Money from Families to Release Bodies of Deceased Protesters

(LPL/EN) – Families of protesters killed in the recent protests in Iran have reported that authorities in the country are demanding large sums of money to release the bodies for burial, the British public broadcaster BBC reported on Friday.
BBC Persian, the broadcaster’s Persian-language service, gathered testimonies indicating that, in some places, bodies in hospitals and morgues are not being released to relatives unless they pay sums estimated at between 700 million and 1 billion tomans (approximately $5,000 to $7,000).
The service notes that in many cases, monthly wages are less than $100, making it impossible to afford these payments.

According to the network’s sources, hospital staff sometimes alert relatives in advance “so that they can retrieve the bodies before security forces try to collect the money.”
BBC Persian also received reports that at the Behesht-e Zahra morgue in Tehran, authorities offered to release bodies free of charge if relatives claimed they belonged to the Basij militia—associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps—and that they had died as martyrs at the hands of the protesters.

One relative told the BBC that in the capital, “several families, fearing that the authorities might withhold or bury the bodies without their knowledge, forced open the morgue door and removed the bodies from the ambulances, and then guarded them in the hospital courtyard until they could transport them with private ambulances.”
The anti-government protests that have been taking place in Iran since December 28 have resulted in the deaths of approximately 3,428 people, according to figures from organizations such as Ihrngo, as well as thousands of injured and detained individuals.
