Illegal Chop Shop Busted in Memphis; two arrested

(LPL/ABC24) – Evolve Bank & Trust CEO Bob Hartheimer has been arrested on federal child pornography charges.

Hartheimer, 68, has been charged with distribution of obscene material and sexual exploitation of a minor through materials/photographs.

FBI agents reportedly arrested Hartheimer at Evolve’s Memphis headquarters, located on Poplar Avenue, on Thursday.
Hartheimer was scheduled to appear in federal court in Memphis on Thursday, but his appearance was rescheduled for October 28. The case is currently under seal, and details about the allegations are unavailable.

Evolve Bank & Trust announced Hartheimer’s appointment as CEO in August 2025. In a media release from Evolve, Hartheimer said he was “honored the Board gave me a clear mandate to protect what matters and grow the Bank into something stronger and more resilient.”

“I have done this work before — restoring trust, working closely with regulators, and guiding institutions through periods of uncertainty. We will confront our challenges head-on, operate with transparency, and prioritize the stability and security of our customers, employees, and partners,” Hartheimer said.

At the time, Evolve Bank & Trust Board Chairman Steve Valentine called Hartheimer’s appointment “a turning point for Evolve.”

“Bob was selected for his unmatched corporate experience in strategically navigating challenges at financial institutions and enabling banks to move past their regulatory challenges,” Valentine said in a statement. “He has the full backing of the Board to take decisive action, restore thoughtful innovation, and lead Evolve into a future defined by transparency and sustainable growth.”

Hartheimer had previously served as senior advisor for advisory and investment firm Klaros. He also had a hand in creating the Division of Resolutions for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
