Escuela Primaria Berclair está infectada de pulgas

(LPL) – Las Escuelas del Condado de Memphis-Shelby (MSCS) confirmaron este martes que la Escuela Primaria Berclair está siendo sometida a tratamiento tras detectarse una infestación de pulgas en una de sus instalaciones.

En un comunicado, el distrito escolar aseguró que está “abordando activamente un problema de plagas en la Escuela Primaria Berclair para garantizar un entorno seguro para todos los estudiantes y el personal”. MSCS precisó que la situación afecta únicamente a uno de los tres edificios que conforman el campus.

Según el informe, las pulgas fueron halladas en uno de los edificios y llegaron a morder en varias ocasiones a un estudiante, quien recibió atención médica durante el fin de semana debido a múltiples picaduras.

Como medida preventiva, este martes se implementó un tratamiento reforzado que incluye nebulización, fumigación exterior en todas las instalaciones y vaporización de alfombras en el edificio afectado.

Un padre de familia con dos hijos inscritos en la escuela dijo que, aunque la noticia es lamentable, no le sorprende del todo.
“Con lo que ha pasado este año con las pulgas y todos los insectos, es sorprendente, pero no lo es. Es triste que el niño lo tenga. Es muy lamentable y triste, pero me alegra que hayan detectado el problema y espero que se solucione”, expresó.

El distrito enfatizó que el problema no se ha propagado a los otros dos edificios y aseguró que continuará informando a los padres mientras se desarrollan las labores de control y limpieza, con el objetivo de que estudiantes y personal regresen a un ambiente seguro.

Berclair Elementary School is infested with fleas

(LPL) – Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) confirmed Tuesday that Berclair Elementary School is undergoing treatment after a flea infestation was detected in one of its facilities.

In a statement, the district said it is “actively addressing a pest problem at Berclair Elementary School to ensure a safe environment for all students and staff.” MSCS clarified that the issue is limited to one of the three buildings on the campus.

According to the report, fleas were found in one of the buildings and bit a student multiple times. The student received medical attention over the weekend for several flea bites.

As a preventive measure, enhanced treatment was carried out on Tuesday, including fogging, exterior fumigation of all facilities, and carpet steaming in the affected building.

A parent with two children enrolled at the school said that while the news is unfortunate, it is not entirely surprising.
“With what’s been happening this year with fleas and all the insects, it’s surprising, but it’s not. It’s sad that the child got it. It’s very unfortunate and sad, but I’m glad they found the problem and I hope it gets resolved,” he said.

The district emphasized that the problem has not spread to the other two buildings and said it will continue to update parents as pest control and cleaning efforts move forward, with the goal of ensuring students and staff return to a safe environment.
