Gobierno venezolano comenzó la liberación de presos políticos y extranjeros

(LPL/EN) – Jorge Rodríguez, presidente de la Asamblea Nacional y principal vocero del chavismo en las conversaciones con el gobierno estadounidense de Donald Trump, anunció este jueves el comienzo de la liberación de un número importante de presos políticos, sin precisar la cantidad.

Este anuncio ocurre después de que Trump afirmó que El Helicoide, sede principal del Servicio Bolivariano de Inteligencia Nacional y el principal centro de torturas de Latinoamérica, estaba siendo cerrado, aunque las autoridades venezolanas no han confirmado esta información.

“Las instituciones del Estado han decidido la puesta en libertad de un número importante de personas venezolanas y extranjeras, y estos procesos de excarcelación están ocurriendo en este mismo momento”, declaró Rodríguez en los alrededores del Palacio Federal Legislativo.

Rodríguez, que al igual que su hermana, la presidenta encargada Delcy Rodríguez, está condicionado por las exigencias del mandatario norteamericano, que tiene en su poder a Nicolás Maduro y a su esposa Cilia Flores tras la impresionante operación militar en Caracas el pasado 3 de enero.

“Considérese este gesto de amplia intención de búsqueda de la paz como el aporte que todos debemos hacer para lograr que nuestra República continúe su vida pacífica”, manifestó.

“Estamos hablando con las instituciones políticas, con los partidos políticos y con las organizaciones con fines políticos que acaten y se atengan a lo que está establecido en la Constitución”, dijo el diputado.

El último balance de la ONG Foro Penal señala que en Venezuela hay 863 presos políticos, de los cuales 86 son extranjeros o que tienen doble nacionalidad. Tras el anuncio de Jorge Rodríguez, el abogado Alfredo Romero, director presidente de la organización, afirmó que verificarán cada liberación y adelantó que ya tienen conocimiento de algunas personas “camino a la libertad”, incluyendo extranjeros.

Venezuelan Government Begins Release of Political Prisoners and Foreign Nationals

(LPL/EN) – Jorge Rodríguez, president of the National Assembly and the main spokesperson for Chavismo in the talks with the US government of Donald Trump, announced on Thursday the beginning of the release of a significant number of political prisoners, without specifying the exact number.

This announcement comes after Trump claimed that El Helicoide, the main headquarters of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service and the main torture center in Latin America, was being closed, although Venezuelan authorities have not confirmed this information.

“State institutions have decided to release a significant number of Venezuelan and foreign nationals, and these release processes are happening right now,” Rodríguez declared near the Federal Legislative Palace.
Rodríguez, who, like his sister, acting president Delcy Rodríguez, is subject to the demands of the US president, who holds Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores captive after the impressive military operation in Caracas on January 3.

“Consider this gesture of a broad intention to seek peace as the contribution that we must all make to ensure that our Republic continues its peaceful existence,” he stated.

“We are talking with political institutions, with political parties, and with organizations with political purposes that abide by and adhere to what is established in the Constitution,” the deputy said.

The latest report from the NGO Foro Penal indicates that there are 863 political prisoners in Venezuela, of whom 86 are foreigners or have dual nationality.

Following Jorge Rodríguez’s announcement, lawyer Alfredo Romero, president of the organization, affirmed that they will verify each release and indicated that they are already aware of some individuals “on their way to freedom,” including foreigners.
