Tres jóvenes hispanos arrestados tras persecución policial en DeSoto County

(LPL) – El pasado martes 22 de julio, una patrulla del Departamento del Sheriff del Condado de DeSoto detectó actividad sospechosa en la zona de SE Airport Road alrededor de las 3:19 a.m. Un agente observó dos vehículos detenidos al costado de la vía, uno de ellos visiblemente dañado. Dentro del segundo vehículo, los ocupantes llevaban sudaderas con capucha y mascarillas, lo que levantó sospechas.

Al intentar acercarse para investigar, el conductor del segundo vehículo huyó, dando inicio a una persecución. Poco después, el vehículo en fuga se estrelló y sus ocupantes escaparon a pie hacia una zona boscosa.

Gracias a la rápida coordinación entre el Departamento del Sheriff y la Policía de Arcadia, se estableció un perímetro de búsqueda. Aproximadamente a las 3:52 a.m., uno de los sospechosos fue detenido por un oficial de Arcadia. Los otros dos involucrados fueron localizados más tarde.

Las investigaciones revelaron que los tres jóvenes, identificados como Bryan Ponce (16 años), Cristian Domínguez (18) y Cristian Carmona (18), estaban involucrados en el robo de ambos vehículos. Según los informes, Ponce habría robado inicialmente una SUV, recogió a los otros dos, y luego intentaron robar un segundo vehículo, una camioneta. Uno de ellos conducía la SUV, que terminó estrellada, mientras los otros escapaban en la camioneta.

Los tres fueron arrestados y enfrentan varios cargos relacionados con el robo de vehículos, resistencia a la autoridad y otros delitos.

Three Hispanics Young Men Arrested After Police Chase in DeSoto County

(LPL) – On Tuesday, July 22, a patrol officer from the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office observed suspicious activity near SE Airport Road around 3:19 a.m. The deputy noticed two vehicles stopped on the side of the road, one of them visibly damaged. Inside the second vehicle, the occupants were wearing hooded sweatshirts and face masks, raising suspicion.

As the officer attempted to approach, the second vehicle fled, prompting a pursuit. Shortly after, the fleeing vehicle crashed, and its occupants fled on foot into a wooded area.

Thanks to the swift coordination between the Sheriff’s Office and the Arcadia Police Department, a perimeter was established. Around 3:52 a.m., one of the suspects was located and detained by an Arcadia officer. The other two individuals were found shortly thereafter.

Investigators determined that the three young men — identified as Bryan Ponce (16), Cristian Dominguez (18), and Cristian Carmona (18) — were involved in the theft of both vehicles. Reports indicate that Ponce initially stole an SUV and picked up the other two suspects. They later attempted to steal a second vehicle, a truck. One suspect crashed the SUV while the others fled in the truck.

All three were arrested and face multiple charges related to vehicle theft, fleeing from law enforcement, and resisting arrest.

The DeSoto County Sheriff praised the successful joint effort with the Arcadia Police Department, highlighting both agencies’ ongoing commitment to keeping the community safe.
