El sospechoso fue identificado como Juan Garay. De acuerdo con una declaración jurada, alrededor de las 6:24 de la mañana, agentes del Departamento de Policía de Memphis (MPD) localizaron un Nissan negro sobre Jackson Avenue, cerca de Reenie Avenue, que coincidía con la descripción de un vehículo relacionado con un robo ocurrido casi dos horas antes en la cuadra 3900 de Macon Road, cerca de Victor Drive.

Cuando los oficiales intentaron detener el vehículo, Garay presuntamente aceleró y huyó a alta velocidad. The suspect was identified as Juan Garay. According to an affidavit, at approximately 6:24 a.m., officers from the Memphis Police Department (MPD) located a black Nissan on Jackson Avenue, near Reenie Avenue, that matched the description of a vehicle linked to a robbery that had occurred nearly two hours earlier in the 3900 block of Macon Road, near Victor Drive.

When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, Garay allegedly accelerated and fled at high speed. According to authorities, during the pursuit, he ran stop signs and red lights before merging onto Interstate 40, where he even drove against oncoming traffic, endangering other motorists.

Police further indicated that, while making his getaway, Garay threw a bag from the vehicle. Authorities have not publicly disclosed the contents of the bag, but the incident was documented as part of the investigation.
