Trump anuncia acuerdo con Irán para reabrir el estrecho de Ormuz

(LPL/EN) – El presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, anunció este domingo que alcanzó un acuerdo con Irán para reabrir el estrecho de Ormuz tras más de tres meses de conflicto.

En un mensaje publicado en Truth Social, el mandatario explicó que, a cambio de la reapertura del estrecho, Estados Unidos levantará el bloqueo marítimo impuesto a la entrada y salida de buques en puertos iraníes.
“El acuerdo con la República Islámica de Irán ya está completo. ¡Felicitaciones a todos! Por la presente, autorizo plenamente la apertura sin peaje del estrecho de Ormuz y, simultáneamente, autorizo el levantamiento inmediato del bloqueo naval de Estados Unidos. ¡Buques del mundo, arranquen sus motores! ¡Que fluya el petróleo!”, escribió Trump, sin ofrecer más detalles del acuerdo.

Por su parte, el primer ministro de Pakistán, Shehbaz Sharif, que ha actuado como mediador entre Washington y Teherán, confirmó la existencia del acuerdo y anunció que la firma oficial se producirá el próximo viernes 19 de junio en Suiza.
“Ambas partes han declarado la terminación inmediata y permanente de las operaciones militares en todos los frentes, incluido el Líbano”, detalló, según EFE.

El acuerdo busca poner fin a la guerra iniciada el pasado 28 de febrero, tras la ofensiva lanzada por Estados Unidos e Israel contra Irán, que resultó en la muerte del líder supremo de la República Islámica, el ayatolá Alí Jameneí, en el poder desde 1989.
Teherán, que nombró como nuevo líder al hijo del ayatolá, Mojtaba Jameneí, respondió con ataques contra Israel y países de la región que albergan bases estadounidenses, además de bloquear el estrecho de Ormuz. Este cierre ha provocado graves perturbaciones económicas, dado que por esa vía transita alrededor del 20% del petróleo mundial.

Trump announces agreement with Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz

(LPL/CNN) – U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he had reached an agreement with Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz following more than three months of conflict.

In a message posted on Truth Social, the president explained that, in exchange for reopening the strait, the United States would lift the maritime blockade imposed on the entry and exit of vessels at Iranian ports.
“The deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to everyone! I hereby fully authorize the toll-free opening of the Strait of Hormuz and, simultaneously, authorize the immediate lifting of the U.S. naval blockade. Ships of the world, start your engines! Let the oil flow!” Trump wrote, without providing further details about the agreement.

Meanwhile, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who acted as a mediator between Washington and Tehran, confirmed the existence of the agreement and announced that the official signing would take place next Friday, June 19, in Switzerland.
“Both sides have declared an immediate and permanent end to military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon,” he stated, according to EFE.

The agreement seeks to end the war that began on February 28 following an offensive launched by the United States and Israel against Iran, which resulted in the death of the Islamic Republic’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei—who had been in power since 1989.
Tehran, which appointed the Ayatollah’s son, Mojtaba Khamenei, as the new leader, responded with attacks against Israel and countries in the region hosting U.S. bases, in addition to blocking the Strait of Hormuz. This closure caused severe economic disruption, given that approximately 20% of the world’s oil passes through that waterway.
