Tres adolescentes son arrestados por presunto vínculo con el robo de 21 vehículos en Memphis

(LPL) – Tres adolescentes fueron arrestados y enfrentan múltiples cargos por su presunta participación en una serie de robos de vehículos ocurridos entre el 12 y el 18 de julio, informó la Policía de Memphis.

De acuerdo con las autoridades, los detenidos son dos jóvenes de 14 años y uno de 17, quienes estarían relacionados con el robo de 21 automóviles, principalmente vehículos Hyundai y Kia.

La investigación comenzó después de que agentes de la estación Raines detectaran un aumento en los robos de este tipo de vehículos durante este mes. Los oficiales notaron que la apariencia de los sospechosos y el método utilizado en los robos eran similares a un caso investigado en abril.

La policía indicó que los dos adolescentes de 14 años ya habían sido acusados en abril por 17 delitos relacionados con robos de vehículos Hyundai y Kia.

Los tres sospechosos fueron localizados y arrestados el martes. Enfrentan 21 cargos por robo de propiedad, específicamente vehículos motorizados, además de dos cargos por vandalismo de $1,000 o más, abandonar la escena de un accidente, impactar contra un objeto fijo y conducir sin licencia.

Three Teenagers Arrested for Alleged Connection to Theft of 21 Vehicles in Memphis

(LPL) – Three teenagers were arrested and face multiple charges for their alleged involvement in a series of vehicle thefts that occurred between July 12 and July 18, the Memphis Police Department reported.

According to authorities, those detained include two 14-year-olds and one 17-year-old, all allegedly linked to the theft of 21 automobiles—primarily Hyundai and Kia models.

The investigation began after officers from the Raines precinct noticed a spike in thefts involving these types of vehicles this month. Officers observed that the suspects’ descriptions and the methods used in the thefts resembled those in a case investigated in April.

Police noted that the two 14-year-olds had previously been charged in April with 17 offenses related to the theft of Hyundai and Kia vehicles.

The three suspects were located and arrested on Tuesday. They face 21 counts of theft of property (specifically motor vehicles), as well as two counts of vandalism involving damages of $1,000 or more, leaving the scene of an accident, striking a fixed object, and driving without a license.

Authorities stated that the investigation is ongoing and that the teenagers could be linked to additional vehicle thefts across Memphis. If further connections are confirmed, additional charges could be filed.

The Memphis Police Department reminded owners of Hyundai and Kia vehicles of the importance of using extra security measures, particularly for models that have frequently been targeted by thieves.
