Una persona muerta y un oficial herido en tiroteo durante operativo en Frayser

(LPL) – Una persona murió y un oficial de policía resultó herido la mañana del jueves durante un operativo para cumplir una orden judicial en el vecindario de Frayser, informaron las autoridades.

De acuerdo con la Policía de Memphis (MPD), la Administración de Control de Drogas (DEA) y el Departamento de Policía de Bartlett estaban sirviendo una orden en una casa ubicada en la cuadra 1700 de Dellwood Avenue, cerca de Watkins Street, poco antes de las 6:20 a.m., cuando se escucharon disparos.

La DEA confirmó que el oficial de Bartlett fue herido de bala al intentar ingresar a la vivienda. Sus lesiones no ponen en riesgo su vida. MPD indicó que sus oficiales estaban asegurando el perímetro cuando fueron alertados de los disparos y ayudaron a trasladar al oficial herido al hospital. Ningún oficial de MPD resultó lesionado.

La Oficina de Investigación de Tennessee (TBI) confirmó que una persona murió en el incidente, pero no dio más detalles. La DEA aseguró en un comunicado que “no hay amenaza para la seguridad pública” y que la escena sigue activa.

Debido a la cercanía del operativo, las Escuelas de Memphis-Shelby County informaron que algunas calles alrededor de la primaria Frayser-Corning permanecerían temporalmente bloqueadas y que se desplegarían oficiales adicionales para asistir con el tráfico y la entrada de los estudiantes. One Person Dead, Officer Injured in Shooting During Warrant Operation in Frayse

(LPL) – One person was killed and a police officer was injured Thursday morning during a warrant operation in the Frayser neighborhood, authorities said.

According to Memphis Police (MPD), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Bartlett Police Department were serving a warrant at a home in the 1700 block of Dellwood Avenue, near Watkins Street, just before 6:20 a.m. when shots were fired.

The DEA confirmed that the Bartlett officer was shot while trying to enter the home. His injuries are not considered life-threatening. MPD said its officers were securing the perimeter when they were alerted to the gunfire and helped transport the injured officer to the hospital. No MPD officers were injured.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) confirmed that one person was killed but did not provide further details. In a statement, the DEA said, “There is no threat to public safety and this remains an active crime scene.”

Because of the nearby police activity, Memphis-Shelby County Schools announced that some streets around Frayser-Corning Elementary School would be temporarily blocked and additional officers would be present to assist with traffic and student drop-off. Classes are continuing as normal, and parents were notified via text message and robocall.
