Incendio arrasa un local en Cordova, obligando a madre e hija a pedir ayuda

(LPL/WREG) – Las llamas consumieron un centro comercial Cordova alrededor de las 10 a. m. del sábado, destruyendo el edificio.

La causa del incendio en Fischer Steel Road y Germantown Parkway aún no se ha confirmado. Nadie resultó herido.

La peluquería Total Woman Experience está tapiada, siendo uno de los pocos negocios del centro comercial que no podrá reabrir durante meses.

El salón tiene seguro, pero no espera recibir ayuda durante meses.

La madre y la hija, dueñas del salón, esperan que la comunidad se una y las ayude. Sasha Coleman cuenta que estaba en su salón cuando se desató el incendio.

“No me di cuenta de que era un incendio hasta que empecé a sentir un poco de asfixia, y cuando miré hacia arriba, me di cuenta de que el salón estaba nublado, lo que me alertó de que algo andaba mal”, dijo. Sasha luego llamó a su madre y copropietaria, Tamara J, quien acudió rápidamente al lugar.
“Me quedé aquí parada durante horas, viendo cómo se quemaba mi sustento. Estaba paralizada”, dijo. “Creo que todavía estoy en estado de shock, y todavía no puedo creerlo, y todavía me faltan las palabras, y realmente no sé qué decir, no sé qué decir. Pero sé que Dios proveerá, y restaurará cuando trabajes tanto por algo”.

Tamara, quien ha dirigido el negocio durante 34 años, ha perdido todo por lo que tanto ha trabajado y espera que la comunidad que significa tanto para ella pueda ayudarlas a ella y a su hija.

“Justo el año pasado, en este mismo salón, hicimos cortes de pelo gratis para madres de todas las edades”, dijo Tamara. “Teníamos una larga fila que nos hizo salir y no paramos hasta que todas las madres fueron atendidas y fue gratis. Somos conocidos por contribuir a la comunidad y les pedimos que hagan lo mismo y nos ayuden”.

Flames rip through Cordova shopping center, leaving mother and daughter asking for help

(LPL/WREG) – Flames consumed a Cordova shopping center around 10 a.m. Saturday, destroying the building.

The cause of the fire at Fischer Steel Road and Germantown Parkway is still unconfirmed. No one was injured.

The Total Woman Experience hair salon is boarded up, one of a few businesses in the shopping center that won’t be able to return to business for months.

The Salon has insurance but doesn’t expect that help to come for months.

The mother and daughter duo that own it, and they are really hoping that the community can come together and help them out. Sasha Coleman says she was in her salon when the fire broke out.

“I didn’t notice it was a fire until I started to choke a little bit, and when I looked up, I realized the salon was foggy, which is what alerted me that something was wrong,” she said.
Sasha later called her mom and co-owner, Tamara J, who rushed to the scene.
“So I stood here for hours and watched my livelihood burn. I was numb,” she said. “And I think I’m still in a state of shock, and I still can’t believe it, and I’m still at a loss for words, and I don’t really know what to say, I don’t know what to say. But I know that God will provide, and he will restore when you work this long for something.”

Tamara, who has run the business for 34 years, has lost everything she has worked so hard for and hopes the community that means the world to her can help her and her daughter out.

“Just last year at this very salon, we did free hairs for mothers of every age,” Tamara said. “We had a long line that sent us out the door and we did not stop until every mother was served and it was free of charge, so we are known for giving back to the community and we’re asking for the community to do the same thing in return and help us out.”
