Dos personas detenidas tras persecución y accidente en Nutbush

(LPL) – Dos personas fueron detenidas este jueves por la mañana después de que un vehículo intentara atropellar a un oficial y posteriormente volcara tras una persecución en el área de Nutbush, según informó el Departamento de Policía de Memphis (MPD).

El incidente ocurrió poco después de las 11:30 a.m., cuando los agentes intentaron detener un Toyota negro. Otros oficiales se encontraban en la zona para desplegar dispositivos de detención (stop sticks), pero el conductor decidió huir. Durante la maniobra, el sospechoso intentó embestir a un oficial, quien logró apartarse a tiempo.

La persecución concluyó en la intersección de Bayliss y Wrenwood, donde el vehículo se estrelló.

En el automóvil viajaban dos personas que fueron detenidas en el lugar. Una mujer y un menor resultaron heridos y fueron trasladados al hospital en condición no crítica.

Según varios videos que circulan por las redes sociales y testigos que presenciaron el  hecho, el conductor era de origen hispano e intentaba evitar que lo arrestaran. Esta información no ha sido confirmada.

Las autoridades confirmaron que ningún oficial resultó lesionado durante el intento de atropello ni durante la persecución. Hasta el momento, no se han presentado cargos formales.

Two People Detained After Police Chase and Crash in Nutbush

(LPL) – Two people were arrested Thursday morning after a vehicle attempted to hit an officer and subsequently overturned following a chase in the Nutbush area, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).

The incident occurred shortly after 11:30 a.m. when officers attempted to stop a black Toyota. Other officers were in the area deploying stop sticks, but the driver decided to flee. During the maneuver, the suspect attempted to ram an officer, who managed to move out of the way.

The chase ended at the intersection of Bayliss and Wrenwood, where the vehicle crashed.

Two people were in the car and were detained at the scene. A woman and a minor were injured and taken to the hospital in non-critical condition.

According to several videos circulating on social media and witnesses who witnessed the incident, the driver was of Hispanic origin and was trying to avoid arrest. This information has not been confirmed.

Authorities confirmed that no officers were injured during the attempted hit-and-run or the chase. No formal charges have been filed so far.
